Chipped transmission area near passenger axle seal.
Removing the front stub from the passenger axle I noticed that two chunks of the transmission broke out. Fearing the worst when I dropped the transmission out of the car I noticed that these areas are thinner than the drivers side. I'm curious, did I do any serious damage, it looks to me as if this area is just part of the casting and only serves to keep dust and rocks out of the axle seal area. I was debating on welding some aluminum back onto the area then hand grinding the area uniform, but I don't think that's necessary. Opinions? It looks like my pic isnt working?

That is not going to cause you any problems. I would not waste time trying to build up the missing material. Someone may have prior used some sort of pry bar to remove the axles and fractured that material away.

That edged wall is there so the green can - the cv trunion - fits inside. The wall provides a bit of protection to the axle/seal. agree someone used a pry bar to try and separate axle from trans, not knowing the pin needs to come out 1st. Isn't a big deal.
