Default WRX idle RPMs?

Can anyone tell me the approximate normal idle RPMs for a 2011 WRX running up to temperature?

Mine idles around 7-800 and tends to dip sometimes randomly as has been mentioned in other threads. This can make for a difficult first gear engage, as I either have to rev fairly high (2k) then back down onto the clutch, or struggle to not stall while the clutch engages (feels like the throttle response is really slow).

mine was about 7-800 too. after i got my accessport i raised the idle 200 rpms. it can be adjusted with ac on and ac off up to 300 rpms difference. i love that feature of the accessport.

And I thought it was just me. I'll give the Accessport a try. Thanks Dave

Is there an advantage to raising the idle RPM's?

Well I did some googling and found that the reason can be because of:

Big stereo or aux lights that may need the extra revs to keep power flowing.

When starting the car the engine warms up faster

Some people have a rough idle, so it'll even that out.

Other than that I figured it might give an advantage on launching but I could be wrong.

The cons though are that the engine will produce more heat on idle than normal and gas will be a factor.

Would anyone else care to give there thoughts and experiance on this matter?

I know i have a 2010 but its the same car so I figured I'd ask here. When you guys start your car it idles at 700rpms right away? Or does it drop to that after idling for awhile?

I have noticed upon first starting my car it will idle around 1500, then once the engine warms up it drops down to the 7-800 range

Yea mine does the same. I figured it was to warm everything up faster and I found out it is.
