Tell me about Tim Hortons
Tim Hortons just bought a local donut chain (Bess Eaton) in bankruptcy court here in the North East, and they're going to keep open all the outlets and convert them all to Tim Hortons.... Going to be the best competition I think against Dunkin Donuts... especially here in the north east where you have a DD every 2 blocks...
So... what are they like? Any expereince vs DD?

Good coffee. The doughnuts are much much better than DD.
Dunkin Doughnuts<Tim Hortons<Krispy Kreme TH sandwiches are ok, as is their soup. Overall, you will be pleased with TH, unless you own a DD shop or something. Around here (Detroit area), DDs are closing left and right, but TH remains strong. Hope that is what you are looking for. -tension |

I'm actually working with a designer on a wastewater treatment system for a Tim Horton's. Of course, I've also got two active DnD projects in Rhode Island. From my perspective (poop treatment) they are virtually the same. Low pH (<5) wastestream with little dilution water and higher than average ammonia (>120ppm) content.
None of these facilities actually produce donuts onsite. Tim Horton's are actually borught in fresh frozen. So no worries with Grease and Oils. Is this what you wanted to know KC? Chris H. |

KK = teh overrated by people
the donuts are pretty good, but that's all they've got. There is way too much sugar in them to make them something I'll eat more than once a year, anyway |

There's a Tim's on every other corner in most Canadian towns. In Hamilton ON you used to be able to see four when standing at one intersection (although I think one was recently torn down as part of a new re-development). They sell Tim's coffee at Gas stations. There was a 'Country Style' Donut shop up the street from me that went under due to lack of business. A Tim's opened up in its place and you can't get a seat at lunch.
Personally, I think Tim's coffee is drinkable, but not great. I prefer higher end coffee (Second Cup, Starbuck's). Their donuts (doughnoughts) are good if you like donuts. |

My gf still raves about the time they went to Tim Horton's years ago, so it must be a pretty good chain.

it is a VERY good chain. I'm really interested in opening one up near my house. I have the PERFECT location.
Only problem is that its like $400K for a franchise but these places make TONS of money. You could two across the street from eachtother and theyre still ALWAYS busy. |

Tim Hortons rules!! The TimBits are great, but they really should call them Horton Holes instead. Tim needs to expand his empire.

Tim Hortons earns about 70-80% of Wendy's corporate profits.
If you're at one and they happen to have any, get one of their butter tarts. Most of the US locations don't have them, but it's a British/Canadian-based treat I really miss while living in the US. Once in a while I break down and actually bake a batch since my nearest Tim Hortons doesn't carry them (Houlton, ME). It's sort of like a minature pecan pie, only with raisins instead of pecans, and the filling is a tiny bit different. |

I first had Tim Horton's donuts when I went to Halifax, Nova Scotia. I must go against the grain and say that Tim Hortons is MUCH better than Krispy Kreme.
