Are you going forward with a design that only bolts to your CBE or mid-pipe ? If so

hahahaha. Noted! We just want to produce the right part for the community, and one that works! We take pride in r&d, so it's sometimes tough for us to sign off on projects like this
No, simply because the current design is *very* easy to make equal length. it will mean a change in the CNC bending data, but that's no biggie. The problem is that batches of tubing bends will have to be different for each header, thereby making it a little harder for us to pass the savings onto the customer. No. Honestly, this is one of the main internal debates of this project. Half of us want a true bolt-on, while others deplore what the header has to do to bolt to a sideways mid-pipe flange. Suggestions are welcomed |

I think that the collector design going straight back is a better design compared to the sideways collector and flange that bolts to the stock location cat section. The reason is the less bends the better for exhaust gases which leads to faster velocity given the right diameter piping is used for the application.
However, like some people on here have pointed out, if this header is used with the straight back collector then the cat section either has to be made up or get the header and cat section together from Moore Performance. On the other hand, getting the whole combo would still be nice because these two pieces of the exhaust will be worth it because of the craftsmanship that goes into each header and cat section. If I remember reading right, any catback will be able to bolt up like a 2.25 or 2.5" and then a 3" if so desired with an adapter. If I build the engine I am thinking then I would definitely like to buy one of these headers and most likely the cat section as well. It won't be for higher end power just low and mid so it would be perfect |

What if we were able to drop the price of the header/midpipe/cat combo to something close to the better headers on the market? Yes, the header won't just "bolt up" to a stock cat section, but as mentioned, the flow will be vastly improved. other pluses: - no heat shield rattles from the mid pipe section - no wafer thin/rusty donut gasket flanges. - high-flow vs. low-flow cat - stock cat section can be sold for its platinum to recoup some $ |

I know you are currently working out the final design and pricing for the 2.5 motor and I hope eventually the design will lead to a FB20 variant. As long as it doesn't trip CEL codes and is quality I don't mind paying a little more...

We havent decided on a price, but we're leaning toward doing the header and the mid-pipe as a package that will be competitive with buying say, a Borla and an aftermarket mid-pipe with high-flow cat. We're leaning toward offering it as a package only, as both will work with one another.
I'm sure we will. We're doing a one-off exhaust on an FB this week, so we'll have some solid inspiration! |

Making it bolt to a stock axle back makes sense for those wanting to keep things a bit more stealthy - it's just really hard justifying making the header bolt up to a factory mid-pipe due to its quirky design. |

Oh yeah that near 90 degree connection is perpendicular to the path of exhaust flow, not so good for efficiency. Well we all look forward to your design rollout. |

There's a pretty good header on there to begin with. I'm not ruling it out, but it's not first on the list. We are however doing a group buy on FB exhausts for Imprezas here in a few short weeks.

installed brullen headers with their hi-flow cat
much much better performance compared to what was before they claim 21hp increase and probably that's what it is |

21 HP sounds like a lot though. Are there any dyno plots? |

Bump for this -
If I have to I'll drive straight to your shop. As of right now I have the stupid p0420 code and rear flange on my cat is slowing rusting away (awesome exhaust leak). Very interested in 304 header and cat section that gets rid of that stupid donut gasket. Any option for a wideband o2 bung? I have a AEM UEGO laying around from an old project that never got used I'd like to put to use. Only 2hrs away from your shop and 40 from the fab place. |

I'm swapping, so I'm no longer a potential customer, however here is something to compare to (OBX EL):
My 1999 (MAF) RS had intake, catback and was catless. This is fairly low reading mustangs dyno (GST Motorsports). If your header can produce power like that, it's definitely going to be a good header. But do note that the OBX header can be had for about $300 shipped. So if your design is truly superior, I think it would have to produce the best dyno results of any NA header out there. Can't wait to see the finished project! I'm mainly looking for a reasonably priced High Flow Cat pipe to go with my TWE headers and 2.25 inch mid pipe but could use a good axle back as well. I'm wondering if you have or can make a metallic HFC pipe and or axle back and where your header project has ended up? I have a 99 RS.
By the way, ST class rules have changed since this thread was started and the cat location has been freed up as well as some of the issues associated with the dreaded CEL. |
