What brand external wastegate is that? That's a lot of work you're doing so good luck with the installs, hopefully everything goes smoothly.

Its a cx racing ewg. There were a few things that broke my balls but took care of them. I just got to do a quick retune of the boost and I'm going to tune my ignition advance a little bit.

Better boost control for sure specially on the vf and just the sound alone from that external waste gate will net you extra power on the butt dyno. Good luck with the tuning!

Burning force, I did run into a couple snags due to the fact I started rushing a little bit on sunday, because the sun was going down. Turns out I forgot the ring on the wg and had to take it down and add the ring. It runs good now except my temp gauge is pinned hot and I get a code P0117 coolant circut low. So I got new sensor still the same found out I have air in the system working on trying to bleed the air. It is not easy man cause I have been running it and it doesnt seem to be bleeding so I started a thread looking for some advice. In all my years as a tech I have never had such a hard time bleeding a cooling system.

Put a coolant funnel in the overflow tank by the turbo. Fill up with extra coolant in the funnel. Run car until hot, aka coolant starts to boil and push out. At this point thermostat will open. Shut car before coolant bubbles over the top. Let cool for at least 30 mins. Done.

This process works about 95% of the time, hardly ever does it not.

Have you cleared this code? Is it pretty much instant code that comes right back after clearing? You may have shorted a wire to ground. Are you sure the car is really overheating?

No I think it's not over heating. You can tell cause it runs normal. As soon as I clear comes right back. It's either like you sai short or air locked

Air lock wouldn't cause an instant code. Most likely would take 2 drive cycles to set a code and the car would be overheating/pushing coolant. Sounds like you have pinched a wire, pulled a pin from a connector or something of that nature.

I hear you man it just goes with the territory when it comes to changing parts! Here is a post I made earlier on how I go about bleeding the coolant on my car as well as other subies I've worked on. Every time I change my coolant, remove engine, and etc. that deals with draining the coolant completely on the subies. I usually fill up the radiator all the way full, fill up the coolant reservoir not all the way full so no coolant flows out , and pinch the upper radiator hose to get rid of the bubbles. You will see that the coolant keeps going down on the reservoir as the air escapes. Continue fill up and pinch until the reservoir can no longer take in coolant. Fill up the overflow bottle to full. I never got my temps to go up with this method. As a final step on the following day while the motor is cold fill up the coolant reservoir some more if needed. You could try pinching the hose again if any more bubbles come out but usually it just spills out and it just needs a bit of coolant or distilled water. Hope this helps and I've used this method numerous times.

OMG!!!!! I had the map sensor plug and coolant temp plug switched. I'm such a retard. This is a lesson don't rush while working on your car. I started second guessing my confedince about cars cause nothing made sense. Thanks for the reply guys.

He everyone, I just wanted to share some awesome news. I got a sponsor. I had applied for sponsorship from a local vendor, HPT motorsports, and I was chosen to be sponsored by them. This is a dream come true. Now I'll be able to do the things I wanted to do to upgrade my car more. Bigger turbo, wheels and more. Anyone who follows this thread in my area maybe I'll see you at some shows.

I would suggest to not use the Mishimoto cap. Get a set of STI or Cosi caps for both the radiator and upper tank.

I have a Mishimoto radiator and their cap leaked on mine.

Works great, I also have a GS 170* thermostat and currently my AEM temp gauge reads 175ish when moving and also pushing it hard. Temps cycle higher when in stop and go, all normal.

These are just opinions and Im not saying im right, just my view point on your next mods.

Im curious why you would go to cometic headgaskets? I mean don't get me wrong Im not bashing them, but I think OEM would work fine for your power level. And you see to many people have problems out of the cometic ones way to often. Most likely from having to low of surface RA. I think the factory bolts will fail well before the headgaskets do.

Also I like idea of bigger radiator, but I dislike the idea of going to lower theromsstat. I think OEM put what they did in for a reason, if colder was better then they would have went that route. From what Ive always been taught from OEM and perfromance standpoint, hotter engine is happier engine up to you have overheating/failure point. I would think if you run engine colder cruise/idle you would get worse fuel mileage and more wear due to cylinder walls and pistons not being up to full operating temp. Plus I have seen more brand new aftermarket thermostats fail than oem.

Like I said just opinions, but I think you may be setting yourself up for some PIA problems.

I was thinking the same thing you were about the thermostat. I'm still debating on wether to put it in or not. I went with thicker gaskets then oem because I chose to go with cometic. Thanks for your advice.

Is you compression ratio currently stock? So you are running a thicker gasket to get a lower your CR? Is that the reason for the thicker hq?
