Looks nice. It's a unusual mix of sti and limited parts, came out clean though. One thing I noticed was the mass airflow sensor. It is not stock, or has a cover on it. Also not sure why previous owner didn't paint the oil cap, since all other caps are red now. Everything looks good! Welcome, and enjoy that hawkeye.

Here is one place that sells open source tunes:

http://www.xpttuning.com/index.php?m...bvfmaqk8qe9ui1

You can also get a semi custom e-mail tune from some shops. Basicly you tell them your mods and they give you a first cut map to down load. Then you do some data loging and send them the file and they send you an updated map that better fits your car.

I am pretty sure judging by the tailights and paint that is an 06...which is better than an 07

Its an 07, but +1 for a good eye the previous owner which i was neighbors with got this car new and had it ordered this color and then installed 06 tail's cause they matched the paint better than the 07.

A tactrix is exclusively for custom or downloaded tunes. It does not have "base maps" like an AccessPort. You'll want a pro-tune on a dyno anyway, in my opinion. But, between the cost of a dyno tune and a a tactrix, you'll still save money over an AccessPort.

Decent power adders?
Turbo back exhaust and a protune. That's the "stage 2" you hear people talking about.
Sky's the limit after that.

That is the route I went and I am loving it.

VF39 (off an 06 STi), STi top mount, and a few other supporting mods with an Opensource tune (Tactrix).

I would be careful before you do any suspension work.
The stock oem shocks and springs do a great job for daily driving, its got long suspension travel compared to most cars.
If your willing to give that up, then its all good.

i already have upgraded shocks and Springs, Cobb swaybar front and rear with endlinks, im not modding the suspension any more. excpet for new bushing kit, and strut and underbrace.

Im first gonna get the trans and motor mounts so it can stiffen this thing up then its on to saving for AP or Tactrix so i can get into atleast stage 2.
