In the Perrin kit, the up pipe has the flange for the Ewg and the down pipe has a port for the dump tube to slip in. NOT fun putting together or taking apart.

Juans Walbro400 install instructions

Follow this instructions to remove the fuel pump assembly: http://www.iwsti.com/forums/how-inst...fuel-pump.html

If you want to remove the parkard connector from the pump without cutting the wires, you need a tooth pick or something with a similar size diameter:

First you remove the blue plastic wire holder from the connector, then insert tooth pick down the terminal opening.

While inserting the tooth pick pull the wire from behind the plastic case; what you are trying to accomplish is to push down the little tap shown below. The tap its designed to keep the terminal from comming out.

.....................................

Here is how I installed my pump:

Here is my Walbro 255lph after 3-4 years in the tank:

It looks prefect to me, no discoloration, rust or anything. As you can see from the picture the 255lph pump fits perfect on pump bracket; that is not the case with the 460lph .

So I cut the wires, spliced them and soldered them together. I used shrink wrap to keep the exposed wires isolated.

To install the pump on the bracket I had to cut the plastic nipple on the pump, about 1/2" because the pump is too long and it will not fit on the pump bracket assembly. I also had to bend the ends of the bracket because again the pump will not fit and I also trimmed the rubber spacer because the filter will not clear it.

I used two zip ties like I did on my walbro 255lph to secure the pump.

The pump is awesome, it is super quiet, my injector duty cycle went down about 10-15%. I also can run as rich as I want up top with out leaning out. With the walbro 255lph I was only able get it down to 12.0s.

I hope this is useful for other members.

Pretty sure someone just posted a link to one in the e85 army thread. Find it and quote it in here. I'm on my phone right now.

So I was wondering about zipties in the fuel tank, maybe deteriorating in E85 cuz of alcohol?

Throw some in a jar with e85 and see what happens. I don't believe there are any issues.

I have this pump in my XTI currently and I am doing the re-wire/ hard-wire as Deatsch Werks just gave me a RW kit. I have the appropriate connector and install was no BD. I think this should feed my DW 1100's at 60 psi FP to flow close to 1300cc. Hoping to hit close to 500 whp on E85 with my Dom 3.5xtr on my new MPS LR 2.5. We shall see.

nylon, which is what most of the plastic parts of the hangar assembly are made of... so compatible.
He also mentioned that he had zip-ties on the old assembly, and while they're not pictured, I'm sure he would have noticed if they were a problem.

The heatshrink is also compatible, but it looks like shiny electrical tape on the solder connections... There are lots of different formulations of electrical tape, but it is usually no bueno:

Quote from Chris@AMS on a GT-R forum:
Quote:
I did a very unscientific test when e85 was first available in my area and I submersed whatever fuel system components I could find in 1 gallon glass jugs full of e85 for a total of 1 year. In addition I also left one of the jugs with some aeration to see if the ethanol and the gasoline would indeed separate. I was unable to find any major negatives during this time, no major corrosion, no major effects on the fuel line I selected, but it sure does like to eat electrical tape. The components were all very 'clean' after 1 year, which was to be expected.
I hope that's merely a different kind of heatshrink that is shiny.

No Limit Motorsports on the Walbro400 fuel pump

1. The stock connector isn't technically E85 safe so you are not supposed to use it

That being said if you want to use stock wiring just unpin the stock wiring plug off the harness, and pin this plug. Than you will have a plug and play pump again.

http://www.bmotorsports.com/shop/pro...roducts_id/823

The RIGHT way to do this pump is to use this

http://www.bmotorsports.com/shop/pro...roducts_id/829

Than go on www.Mcmaster.com and get a "Multicord Liquid-Tight Cord Grips" I THINK part number 7807K31, I forget the diameter of the wire so just double check that.

You drill this into the top of the stock fuel pump canister and it allows the new pig tail wires to come through the top, but no fuel to leak out. Once that is done you can hardwire the pump off the battery with a relay. Than the fuel pump will work like it was designed to.

Whatever you do, don't wire it up ghetto like the people in that thread, like juanmedina. That came out terrible. At least re-pin the proper connect onto your fuel pump harness. You could always go back again if you ever wanted to.

Either way is very easy to do for even a novice mechanic.

WALBRO 400 FP will fit 08+ STI

I installed mine in one hour. If you have already installed a Walbro255, its just as simple.
Once you get the bucket out of the tank, have an empty drain pan easily accessable because there will be some fuel spillage. Take a look into the housing where the pump is inserted, there are tabs everywhere that help hold the stock FP in place, all of them need to be shaved off. ( If you have already installed a Walbro255, there will be two more tabs that need to be dremel'd or shaved off.) I found out that using the chisel is far easier and makes less mess than a dremel. (Go to Home Depot and buy a wood chisel thats is 1/4" wide, I promise it will make things so much easier.)
I used the small filter that was included with the pump and it all fit in the housing. The only thing I had to modify was splitting the electrical connector. Make sure you have the wires right so you wont have to open everything back up and swap them. I want to say the smaller connector on the pump is the negative ( Read the directions! )
When everything is plugged in and aligned it is a very snug fit. Now before you start bolting it back in, take the black gasket that goes around the bucket, take a razor and shave off those 3 alignment tabs. It will save you time and you will still get a perfect seal. ( the damn 8 bolts already keep things aligned without those 3 nipple wingers getting in the way.) You may have a bit of a hard time getting the first few nuts on because the gasket is not fully seated around the gasket. I used the handle of a hammer to help squash it down to get the nuts on. tighten them all up, plug in the fuel line and the electrical plug, prime the pump 5 times and your good for startup!
Zip ties and 50lb fish line do hold up in e85. When I had my Walbro255 I used them to secure the filter bag that I shortened to fit in the bucket ( they held for over a year and seemed just fine.) The small bag that was included with the Walbro400 had a low enough profile i did not have to mod anything.
Guys, the F90000262 Walbro400 does fit and I'm here to vouch for it. Those looking for more power, this is clearly a good way to go.
Now go get yourself a GOOD TUNE! I'm waiting on my wife so I can go log a 3rd gear pull to 5500 rpm's LOL!!! I can't take my kids.

(You may want to go to your local auto store before you start and pick up a few o-rings so you can double up on the pump just incase.)

May be a tad off topic but it is related to tuning, and I know some will have a question about this as I have.

*Keep in mind I'm on a big E85 rotated setup*

Ok, tuning the closed loop portion of the map (tuning CL in OL, easier for me). Why is it that when I finally get stoich (14.7:1) in cruise/idle and I re-enable CL corrections that my wideband drops to 13.x:1 during cruise/idle but corrections stay under 2%?

It's not a big deal but I always question why I don't see 14.7:1 during cruise with CL corrections on like I did when I had CL corrections off.

for starters, your target probably isn't 14.7 in the ecu.
can you post your map or email it to someone so we can look at it?

No it isn't.

Ecu's don't target 14.7. They target lambda. The oxygen sensor doesn't report AFR, it reports voltage based off Lambda.

If your WBO2 is telling you that it's 13.7, then that must be your lambda.
OR
It's your lambda plus the extra compensations based on load and temperature.

Regardless, the ecu pretty much NEVER targets 14.7. You can try arguing with me all you want, but you're probably wrong.

For starters, lambda on most pump fuels is closer to 14.5.

The last possibility is that your sensor is wrong.

Gotcha dude, I see what you're saying! I wasn't arguing I just didn't understand what you meant. Looking at the map now I understand. So now I need to zero the compensations then see where that puts me
