Turbo legacy 2nd engine woops!
yes unfortunatly i screwed up installing my kit and re-routed all of the oil to the turbo instead of some of it. Bad idea i seized my engine ! but i am having a new motor installed with the kit on it only this time it is done properly. My question is should i go ahead and try out the turbo kit or am i deep enough with having to replace the engine once allready that i shouldnt chance it.
Details on new motor. Newer 60k mi EJ22 long block it may be newer than 1994 idk if this is bad for the integrity of the engine under boost but i believe the motors are the same as the older N/A engines with 9.5:1 CR and open deck block. Are the new motors dual port heads like mine or will my wrx headers not work. The mechanic said he would install the turbo on the new motor but every extra part he needs will obviously cost me a good amount. Trying to avoid spending any more money than i allready have to.

Find out for sure what that motor you are getting is. If it is new enough, it will not mate to the WRX headers.
But I don't see why mis routing the turbo oil lines would seize the motor. There is probably something else going on there... |

yea i accidentally routed too much of the oil away from the engine and it burned off the turbo on the turbine side and spilled out the compressor side so it ran dry and seized...it never really took any boost. when i refilled it with oil it ran but had a really bad knock from the middle of the motor it seized with in 40 miles of this knock developing.

You pumped 4+ quarts of oil into the compressor/turbine side of your turbo and didnt notice it?? You didnt notice the smoke trail you left for 7 miles. Sounds like you need some coffee
So you have a turbo kit on a NA engine? Where did you tap your oil from. Its almost impossible to do what you are saying happened. 98 and 99 2.2l are single ex port engines. |

it smoked in the drive way! i didnt drive it untill i fixed the problem, the damage was allready done! the oil came from an oil sandwich which worked a little differently from how i thought it did. apparently oil was backfeeding the turbo because i had it set up with the return line going into the return line of the sandwich. Now i have a nipple welded into my oil pan so it is all straightened out.

ok apparently the motor is a 1994 EJ22 with 65Kmi it has a dual ported head design, so everything will work on the new motor, it is just a question of whether or not i should chance it.
