I have been on every page of this thread and on the IWSTI website order thread and have not seen anyone able to get an orange STi. I'm sure it wouldn't let your salesperson actually order it though if she tried. But hey have her give it a shot, you would have a unique STi lol.

Finally tossed my hat in the ring yesterday.
Placed an order for a 4-door base w/no options PBP STi at Heuberger on 10/27 . They actually had a sale's exec turn in a 2012 4-door PBP STi with 12k miles on it that I was lucky enough to get to test drive. I probably should have declined the offer, because now I keep thinking about how amazing the handling and smooth the acceleration is compared to my WRX. I put a $1k deposit down, and was told the car won't be here until February. Works out for me because I'm paying off my WRX in January, but 4 months is going to be a long, long LONG wait . That and I keep flip flopping in my mind between PBP and WRB... |

About 270 miles in.
I got a few accessories post-order which I installed myself. Red footwell illumination was a PITA to install, straight forward but nut/bolts for install of the LEDs themselves were tough access. I removed the glovebox for the passenger side. Also I removed the stereo trim and center vents for access to the harness connection. Not sure it was worth the effort, but sorta cool I guess, if a little gimmicky, lol! Auto dimming mirror w/compass was a breezy 20 minutes to install, quite simple, and it's very nice! Love the red compass. STI Duracon shift knob feels great, perfect size (smaller), ergonomic, slick material... I like it more than I thought I would. Maybe it's in my head but it makes the shift feel a little bit more connected and direct (w/the stock shifter). Today I debadged because Sandy is taking her grand ol time getting here (now a tree will fall on my car). Was pretty stinkin easy, about 45 minutes with hair dryer, dental floss, and claybar to clean up residue. Worst part was the confused look on my neighbors face. Now I need to do something about that license plate frame, maybe I'll spray it black until I find one I like. Some people here like pics so here ya go... Only weird thing with the car (so far) is the rear wiper. Not a big deal, at all, but it has a relay around the steering wheel that clicks on and off in Intermittent mode, similar to the click of the turn signal. Click-sweep-Click... Click-sweep-Click... Apparently it's normal according to NASIOC. Last edited by jandree22; 11-04-2012 at 11:17 PM. |

My scheduled delivery date is tomorrow. I have been stalking local dealer inventories the last 3weeks and 3 dealers in my area had cars go from in transit to on the lot today. so my Subbie should be in my hands tomorrow!

Only thing that sort of stinks is they're individual letters rather than one 'SUBARU' piece... so you'll need to take measurements on the spacing and use tape to box out a guide. And obviously new adhesive. What your planning could certainly be done. Personally I've kept all three badges and can't bear to throw them out... I'll find some use for them.

So what happens to my Friday Nov. 2 ETA with this storm? What do they do when they have a whole lot of cars sitting right up against a major waterway? Do they leave them there because it is too dangerous to transport them out to the dealers, or do they try and get them all out asap in case the port floods?
Hopefully I don't find a bass in my glovebox when she finally gets here! |

Well I made it to 10am before I called my dealer to see if the truck came while I was showering this morning. The frequency I talk about calling my dealer I sound like an addict...
No bad news except the email I got that said AAA members get special pricing does not apply to the WRX. Apparently only soccer mom's buying Outbacks get |

we should send someone to work at SOA. Then just have that person make a google doc list of all the orders that still waiting and just update it here and there on his/her own time haha. Only if I work for SOA.

I think patience and finding a good way to cope is important. You'll drive yourself nuts following this thread too closely for 3+ months. That said, the entire purpose of this thread is to get updates and deal with the waiting experience. It's a safe place to vent/rant/ask questions etc. Or at least that's how it started...

All readers and posters of the thread REALIZING that fact, is not a pre-requisite to it being, a fact
That is absolutely what this thread is for. Asking, waiting, complaining, shared-ranting, sheer-joy when someone "Drives out" of the thread-of-doom.... It's like submarining for any of you bubbleheads out there, months of boredom accompanied by minutes of sheer terror. |
