Went to the Drags today. Still stink, lol.
Went to the drags today. And well I still stink. But the laucnhes are getting smoother. Just need to learn how do it faster now, lol. Ran 14.9's with 2.6 60's and 15.1 with a almost 2.8 60, lol. I am hopping these new springs will help out. If not, looks like a LSD is soon to come.

Tusin went to ARP instead.
I think you should try drivng hard off the line or try a second gear launch. Quit doing the same thing over and over. Try something different. Winslow |

I was doing somthing differnt. I was slipping the clutch, but taking to much time in doing so. It wasnt like last weekend where I would just hop all over the place. Even tho my 60's arent showing it, my lauches at least feel smoother now.

Tusin, what are you reving to........you shouldn't have to slip it. Just don't rev so high, it will hook up at a lower RPM.......in my jetta just reving (like some I-Clubs guys saw today) 1500 RPM's to high I will spin like crazy.....just back it off a little, its not a Honda, you don't have to rev high

Blackknight, I have to slip the clutch. There is no way I can get away with just dumping it. I think I might start around 2k rpm's next time. Remember I have about 240-250 ft/tq to the wheels. With a 12.5% Drivetrain loss that would be appx 275tq at the crank. My math could be wrong too. I am just doing 245*.125 and then adding what that is to 245. I am probably doing that wrong, lol.

You have a 1.8T right Tusin? Then slipping the clutch is just what you want to do to stay into boost. I think a set of DR's and a LSD will work wonderson your car.
BrokeAWD! NOOOO!!! I was having fun being the onyl 11 second car around.... j/k Glad to see that it will be up and running again. We'll see what happens with this POS clutch I have now. Scott |

You shouldn't have to slip the clutch that much or not at all. Its a Volkswagon. Obviously this is the first one that you have owned. Even with a turbo you shouldn't have to rev to high. Ask anyone that has own more then just a mk4 and just a 1.8T. It doesn't drive like most turbo cars. Its german, and they like the low down tourqe and they don't like having to rev up for there power. So try lower RPM. You should be able to get a better launch. If you don't think so just ask Code-7, LostBoyScout, or Saly-D on the Vortex. Thay'll tell you the same thing.
Its hard to explane if you haven't owned a VW before. There different then that other cars (Japan, American). |

Yes I probably dont have to rev so high, but I have to slip/feather the clutch, I can not dump it. Even tho I have never owned a VW before, Code-7 (And I am guessing the other guys, because I have never seen them in the 1.8T forum) have never owned a modded 1.8T, it is nothing like the Vr6. The only thing that is the same is the ****ty Susspension, lol. I am not going to try to Dis the Vr6 and up the 1.8T or anything like that, but the 1.8T is quite a bit more powerfull then the Vr6, slap a Turbo on the Vr6 and we are talking somthing differnt. But seriously what your saying is kind of like comparing a 2.0 to a Vr6, with a 2.0 you can just dump the damn clutch and go (Not really any power to make you spin or hop) the Vr6 you can proably get away with dummping or a slight slip (Keep in mind I have never tried to launch a Vr6, launched a 2.0 a few times). The reason that I hop is that I have quite a bit of tq. More then a Vr6 will ever see with out alot of internal work or some sort of FI.
You know what instead of trying to explain it over and over. I think next time we see each other, I will let you take my car out for a spin |

Great, Ilir! You've done it now. Should I lock this before the flames start.
Yup the WRX will kill them both. Who cares? I mean the 1.8t HAS MORE TQ. Uh, uh, I mean the VR6 is faster. Winslow |

hahahha, dammit, I dont even have a comment anymore. I am getting it from all angles.
Ilir, I keep saying high 13's just because people with the same mods are pulling that off. But honestly I would be happy with a Low 14. I just want to get a good launch like a 2.1 and see what my time is. If it is a Mid-14 then that means I am loosing power somewhere (Maybe a Boost Leak). |
