Default First AutoX event with my BRZ

It was REALLY fun. Learned alot about the car and didnt do too bad IMO. Here are some vids I took at the Subaru Showdown at Carolina motorsports park yesterday.

First run, slower of two runs they had set up.

Second run, VSC in sport.

Third run, trac and VSC off, IMO the best way to Auto X this car. This run was much faster than the previous.

Fourth run, I really tried to test the limits of the tires in this one.

This run was on the other side of the course and was much faster, it was my first run so I just tried to feel it out and run clean.

This was my final run, I went all out and ended up pretty quick. I hit my only cone all day in this one too tho. Tons of fun tho.

Cool videos, but one-handed on the wheel most of the time? Is that some crazy auto-x technique or something? Every HPDE I've ever been to screams, "shift and get your hand off the lever and back on the wheel"

Lol. Check out their hands in this vid below.

Also, if you enjoy what you're doing, I *highly* recommend an instructed novice HPDE (high performance driver's education event)...mean, instructed track time on a road course track. Usually only a couple hundred bucks for a day or two. Well, well worth it, IMHO.

I was there, too... the red & white MCS (as opposed to chkltcow's red & black & vinyl MCS) parked just West of you. I had to leave early so I only drove on the East course. I got a ride with Will Taylor in the BRZ demo around the West course though.

I'm really looking forward to the posting of times.

Edit: so people can bitch about my hand positioning:

(NOT A BRZ.. obviously)

Both hands on the wheel when you're not shifting! As few shifts as you do on an autocross course it's easy to just reach down when you need to shift. And minimize shifts. On a well laid out course, each shift could cost you as much as a half of a second. And for hand movement, ideally you're supposed to push on the wheel in the direction you're turning it, never pulling. The feedback from the front you get when doing it that way communicates a lot more information, and it helps you get the precision you need to cut your line tight enough to nick cones with the back wheel.
