Question Engine compatibility 2006 Impreza

So, I'm dropping a used engine in my 06 Impreza 2.5i 5-speed. (oil starved head :P)
I picked up a another 06 2.5i motor, after I got it I realized it was from an auto car, and mine is 5-speed.
I'm assuming I can just remove the torque converter and such, and then bolt on my clutch and flywheel, is that true, or do I need to find a 5-speed engine?

Thanks!

Also, if it is possible to use it, do I need to swap the intake as well?
Thanks

I think you can use it, but there is a little more than just taking off the TC. I believe that there are a couple of sensors and some pins on the ECU that need to be connected/disconnected so it knows it's a 5 speed. (idle speed and things get adjusted, I think...)

Hmm, ok anywhere I can get that info? It's sort of difficult to google this info, believe me, that's where I would normally go, I'm not lazy

Should be like you said; swap the TC and the clutch/flywheel and toss it in. I would swap the intake/wiring from your stock engine just in case there is any difference in sensors and such. No repinning or anything would be necessary since you're not swapping ECUs or anything like that.

Ok thanks, I will swap the intake, put it together, and see how it runs.

Please keep this thread up to date. I'm in the same position you are in.
I've found some manual engines and some automatic engines.

The automatics are cheaper and lower mileage. I'm currently debating whether or not I should just shell out the extra money for the manual and risk the mileage.

So far the list of things to change stands at:
- Remove Torque Converters
- Re-use or replace clutch and flywheel from outgoing engine (manual)
- Re-use intake manifold from outgoing engine (manual)
- Re-use wiring from outgoing engine (manual)

Anything else? Links to other literature? I'm not lazy, just unlucky when it comes to research.

Hopefully nobody is swapping the torque converter, since manuals don't have one...

Yeah I was 98% sure on that one. Figured it was easier to ask a stupid question than make a stupid mistake.
