Boost and boost gauge problem
Well I installed a boost gage and I am reading about ~12.5 Psi from 3K to 4.5K then it drops to 8.5 Psi the from 4.5k to 6.5K RPM. WTH is going on here, isnt it suppoused to drop at around 6K not 4.5K? Would you guys tell me how your gauge is reading.......Please... Also the gauge is flickering now..... HELPO

I'm guessing (emphasis on the guessing) your flickering has to do with a loose connection somewhere.
I'm also guessing the boost tapering is normal with the stock ECU. |

So you saying I would have to reflash ECU to get rid of the tapering.... SHIAT I dont want to void the warranty...

Maybe try resetting it just so you know you're starting with a blank slate?

Well you can just disconnect the - terminal, press the brake pedal for ~10 sec to drain the charge or do the Vishnu reset

Did the short ram make a difference? Does it have a heat shield?

How much did it set you back... I been reading that a good cold air would give this engine about 15 to 20 more HP.... (Injen Webpage)

Other turbo cars I have driven like a 3000GT didnt taper much at all, it was fixed at 17PSi up to 7000 RPM. So thats why I was wondering....

Our car has a little turbo on it and running it up to 17lbs is just too much. I read once that 16lbs is about the most it can do before running out of steam.
Tapering is normal and I recal mine spiking up to about 11.5ish and dropping back to about 8.5 when all was stock. A TXS short ram will set you back about $160+. I had one for about a year. Personally I do not care for its mouting design and have switched to an AEM short ram. It has a connector bracket that bolts right to the fender well and is a little more secure. Just so you know we dyno'd my friends fxt with other mods and he hit 256 at the wheels, we then put the txs short ram on and he dyno'd at 266. So he saw a 10hp gain with no new tuning done to his Utec at all. That is about average if you will for the intakes. Some a little higher/lower mind you. I think one of the only ones out right now with a heatshield is the Typhoon from KN. |

What about a cold air intake? I been reading about those. Anyways I couldnt buy one now since I be in Spain the whole summer to see my granny and I need the money, but I still want to know....
I wasnt referring to the 17PSI as a target boost I was talking about the steady 17PSI up to 7000 RPM pretty much. Is it due to the tiny, but two vs one turbos. I know our cars couldnt hit that hight on the stock turbo. |
