Version 5/6 EJ207 OBD-II
Are the 1999-2000 V5/6 EJ207's OBD-II? If so, can someone help me find the wiring for the OBD-II port in the following wiring diagram? If not, how do I pull the check engine light codes off the ecu?
Background: Recently swaped V5 EJ207 in place of 93 1.8L. I'm getting intermittent check engine lights. I've tried connecting the black connectors under the dash to pull the code off the ecu but the check engine light doesn't flash. I even tried the green connectors and both, but still no flash. I was under the assumption the V5 EJ207 was OBD-II because Ecutek supports my ecu code (AE481). I think when they pulled the wiring harness in japan they may have unplugged the wiring from the back of the OBD-II port. Here's the link to the wiring diagram(thanks Jaxx): scroll to pages 31-36 http://www.linkecu.com/support/dland...Y99Manual/view Here's few pictures of the plugs under the dash I'm talking about: black/green connectors mentioned 2 connectors on the left are in addition to above better shot of yellow connnetor wiring

Looks like you need to wire in connector B40. You should be able to trace the RW wire from the test connector to the OBDII plug. If its not in the harness some where then you should have some wires cut and hanging out. I will take a look at my harness and see where the obdII wires run. IIRC when I flipped my harness I had to extend the obdII connector wires, you might want to look for the connector over by the ecu somewhere.
Here is some info on the test and read connectors. It applies to the svx but it may be similar. http://www.wbx6.de/doc/selbstdiagnose_motor.pdf |

Looks like the read memory ground wasn't grounded. After grounding I'm getting a code 24. Which according to the SVX link is a bypass air control solenoid valve which is the same code as the pre 97 ej22t, ej20g, ej20k, etc.

Are you saying I need to find a 16 pin OBD-II plug and wire it in per the Link wiring diagram
B40 pin 6 > B76 pin 2 read memory B40 pin 10 > B136 pin 13 ? B40 pin 1 > B47 pin 4 main relay ? B40 pin 12 > ground ? B40 pin 13 > ground ? B40 pin 4 > B136 pin 4 select monitor signal B40 pin 5 > B136 pin 3 select monitor signal Any luck with checking youre wiring out? |

Yes if your harness doesnt have an OBDII port/plug tucked in somewhere it SHOULD. I did check mine and it didnt appear that I modded the wires. Like I said try tracing some of the wires you listed, they should lead you right to the plug.

Complete OBDII compliance wasnt integrated until Ver 7 but Ver 5/6 still have an OBDII style plug. Another thing to note is the Delta dash reads codes for the Ver 5/6 in the generic P format. I dont know that I trust your code 24 100%....that is for older OBDI cars and may not be the same.

Steve, I found your old thread... http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=299593 and it seems my check engine light comes on in the same situations...always on decel, usually on a hill, but not always, but always under engine braking conditions and it goes out right away. Did you ever find the source behind this?

Wow 6 years ago. I hate to say I cant remember the solution or really what caused the problem. MAF is always suspect, I went through many. That was shortly after I finished the swap....hmm.

Just so we are clear Ver 5/6 cars DO come with an OBDII plug from the factory. There should be no need to wire one in.

I took a quick look at the ecu pinouts today and noticed b136 pin 13 is empty. B136 pins 4 and 3 are wired but I'm not sure to where yet.

Unless you merge in the harness, it gets cut during the stripping process. |

update...
I got a used Delta Dash hard wired into the proper wiring and its the same code. 24 isc valve (stick). Thanks for all of the help everyone. I think the used Delta Dash was worth it considering the additional features. |

I have the same code 24 Version 6 WRX. Now my idle stays really high even when coming off the throttle, very annoying. Can someone show me a pic of the engine so I can see where the ISC valve is so I can try cleaning it? Thanks

It is mounted on the top of the throttle body.

I've tried cleaning it, I've tried swapping it, and I have 3 used spares and have yet to get rid of the the 24 code. It only comes on when i engine brake / down shift sometimes. Once I let the RPM's go down the light goes out.
Every time I have swapped the sensor the ecu re-learns the new sensor. Some took longer than others. Some worked better than others. |

not sure if you tried used ones the times you have replaced it but these sensors are EXTREAMLY common to go out the door. I had to also replace mine when i did my version 7 swap, i know not a 5/6 but same sensor and it crapped the bed. Needed to replace it with a brand new one to fix the issue i had. Good luck

It has not seemed to affect anything else. I have made it come on and did a pull from 2k-6k and had no issues. I even data logged it. Not worth the 200-300 the dealer is asking.
