Question Just a question about the T28/T3 hybrid...

Hi guys!!!

I'm the owner of a 1999 RS turbo (JCS Agressor), 19" IC, T28 ballbearing, 12psi & all the gizmos to protect it....
I've been working with turbos for the last 14 years & never heard of this hybrid. I've been reading the last few days about this turbo & just have a question....

If the T28 is the biggest T25, also known as the T2 family, available (which is also a stock unit on Nissan's 300zx Twin Turbo) & the T3 is the smallest on the T4 family (or TO4). How can you put together such different units? Since the T28 uses clips or retainers to hold together it's components & the T3 uses bolts. They DO NOT share the same center section which is the most important part on a hybrid. OR......... is it that they install a T3 compressor wheel and then get the T28 compressor housing machined to make room for the T3 wheel?

Personally I think a T3/Super 60 works even better than the T3/TO4 hybrid when installed on Scoobys. Why? The T3/TO4 needs lots of revs to get to it's "sweet spot", RS' falls short on that demand, now on a VTEC or Rotary; that's another story.... With a T3/Super 60, the turbo's power will start to fade within 200 rpms of the Scooby's red line, will not produce as much heat as the regular T28 & the "sweet spot" will arrive about 2000 rpms sooner that the TO4.

Sweet spot doesn't mean full boost(although related!), it's the turbo's ability to mantain full boost for longest periods of time between shifts; Sooner & longer.

Just my 2.5(RS) cents.....
PEACE!!!

PS. It also has minimal lag. I'm working on a T28/Super 60 (from a T3) & ballbearing. SO....what the hell is lag???

No, because here in the States, we don't go for that turbo junk. We're just into bodykits, loud exhausts, & stickers!

I'm not wondering if they take a T28 wheel and put it in a T3 housing... Maybe a call to JC would help.

ChuSac,

I wish I could help you, but I am interested in the outcome. Been watchin' delectron's custom build closely and I'm starting to get some really crazy ideas that I may want to do the same. My biggest question is which turbo to use and to find out more about them. Hope someone has an answer for you.

If you do get some info outside of this board, can you post and let us know??

Cheers,
MB
