Default What will our Subie look like in 2015?

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to your time machine. All right folks, watch your step. Keep your hands and feet on the inside of the machine once it starts. Cover your ears, cause here we go...

BOOOM

Folks, it's now 2015. Keep your eyes and ears open, cause it's a whole new world here.

SO - Will be still be driving gasoline powered vehicles or will we have 'transitioned' over to hydrogen/fuel cell technology? If so, how did either of these positions occur?

What will our Subaru's look like? Outside? Inside? What will they be made of?

Will we still have PERSONAL transportation or will it all be mass transit now?

Did someone discover the 'transporter' system like in Star Trek? Or pehaps the transporters that were brought to earth by the 'Ashin' in Stargate SG-1 (similar in function to the Star Trek transporter)?

SO folks, what do you say???

Let's see. 10 years ago we were driving GC8s. Steel. Mac struts. Four cylinders. Now, we're driving GDs. Steel. Mac struts. Four cylinders. Another 10 years? Who knows, maybe we'll move onto something fancy-schmancy like aluminum. But still probably Mac struts. Four cylinders. Oh, and the center part of the '06 grille? now REALLY BIG.

What's the consensus about OT these days? It does say "anything *but* subaru and technical related..." and this is a subaru question, albeit one that requires a little more imagination than the average subaru question.

screw the subaru. i hope we all have personal jet packs by then. 0-60 in .5 seconds.

i mean that's a whole 10 years from now!

(probably not that much different, but a bigger hood scoop for sure)

I don't know the hood scoop went smaller for the new model.

Well, do you want to have a rear-view and nav data? Of course you'll have to wear the shiney glasses.

I say that in 25 years we'll see quasiturbines using alcohol fermented from a renewable bionic algae sludge.

As for 10 years.. we'll have the updated R2 & R1 as our fuel efficient all-weather commuter cars and the B2/Impreza will be our mid-priced luxobarge.

If what they're saying about the USDM 06 Legacy is true, all US Subaru's will be automatics with leather and NAV, and you still won't be able to get HID's...

They'll probably be non-turbo, if the WRC rumors are true, which means Subaru will homologate the road cars in the same fashion... High-rev, N/A boxer-4. Same aspirations that Honda has, except with a different twist. A more advanced variable valve timing system, perhaps...

I think they'll switch to double-wishbone in the rear, but will probably still have McP front suspension. Bigger brakes. Some sort of integrated paddle-shift automatic; I foresee Audi's superhuman transmission being copycatted. Equal-length headers will eliminate some of the boxer sound, but maybe Subaru will incorporate some kind of "sonic improvement" to reminisce, somewhat like the BMW Z4's engine bay noisemaker.

Aluminum, probably. But the carpet will still suck, and the paint will still fall off if you look at it the wrong way.

The Chinese have out competed the Japenese and there is no more Subaru, mtsubishi, Ford, Saab and many european brands particularly French made cars vanish!

We will all be speaking Chinese and driving mopeds to work. If subies go hi-rev motorcyle engines in cars like honda they will not see my business. I liked everything about my 94 Accord except a rubberband airplane had more torque.

Hopefully, most of our fuel will be based on corn products.

E85 110 octane fuel for the turbo crowd
biodiesel for the turbo diesel crowd

Quite likely that today's small players (like Subaru) will be gone by 2015. We will all drive Chinese imports and gas will cost $20/gallon.
