Default More evidence of McRae's departure...

Apparently nobody from Ford has talked to him regarding a drive for next year... and it is getting awfully late...

Quote:
The problem is at the moment there's no commitment from Ford, I don't want to have to hang on, hoping that Ford are going to come up with something and if they don't, I've turned down another good offer. If a good offer comes along, then obviously it would be seriously considered. It would be a shame to have to leave the team, but if they can't come up with anything solid soon, then that may be the case.

I, for one, say kick Tommi to the curb and bring back McRae! Sure, he crashes too, but at least he can win rallies!

He wouldnt win any more rallies than Tommi has in the new car. He's got a bad temper and when the car breaks he seems to drive with rage and is likely to crash. And well, the Subaru breaks alot.

Plus Colin is more likely to injure himself beating on his own car after an incident. At least Tommi doesn't do that.

If Subaru could only add Colin to the current team along with a more reliable, faster car. Oh, and I'd like to win the lottery, please.

IMHO Ford should drop both Colin and Carlos. Keep Markko cuz like Petter he will only improve. Then sign some other cheaper experienced man to help w/ the cars development.

I think he's settled down a lot since that big crash at the end of last year. He's still a cocky bastard, but he's damn good, and I'm of the firm belief he couldn't do any worse than Tommi...

Colin should go to Mitsubishi and race with his brother. Mitsu can definitely afford him, considering the crappy drivers they currently have!

Colin was quoted in RallyXS magazine as saying would like a chance to drive on the same team as his brother at some point. I think that Mitsu should try to sign him.

Incidentally, in the same article, Colin said whenever he sees Alister on recce, he gives him the finger. Talk about family ties...

what you smoking alex? Yuha is no longer at the level of the top 5 drivers, he has been ultra sucessful and is a fantastic guy but he isnt a driver i would want to see lead Subaru forward.

I think it's pretty likely Colin will be driving for Citroen, he has been having not so quiet meetings and meals with Citroen bosses all year at the events.

I think if ford wanted to keep him they would have made an offer by now, they may be playing for money, but i think Citroen will give Colin what he wants so Ford is pushing their luck!

Why? Citroen have the budget and they have the ambition. They are the partner company to Peugeot who are doing sort of OK.

Citroen have won two tarmac rallies this year (OK, so Monte they were dropped to 2nd, but at worst they were ultra competitive) with a guy who has very little experience.

They have a programe in place to do the full championship, all they need is a top driver. It makes complete sense to me. Dont forget McRae has put years into ford and they are not looking like catching Peugeot for a couple of years at least, so what has Colin got to lose? Ford are pumping a fortune into F1 for the next 3 years with Jaguar and now Jordan, i think the WRC will have it's budget cut and the drivers are the first to go in that.

As to Colin going to Mitsubishi, not a chance, he would retire before driving that nail.

All true. But, the same could be said of Ford a few years ago, and he certainly wasn't too happy then. I just don't see him putting himself back into the same sort of position to try to develop a new team and a new car when he was so frustrated when things went wrong before.

But, we'll all see before long, I'm sure

OH MY GOD!

Money aside (which is obviously a big deal), Citroen have kicked some serious ass this year, despite their limited number of showings! This is largely in part to WRC's answer to Juan Pablo Montoya in the form of Sebastien Loeb!

Can you imagine Loeb and McRae together with Citroen? Just what the doctor ordered to attack the Gronholm / Burns duo! If the Citroen runs as well next year as it has this year against the Peugeots, then we could be for a serious treat!

I appreciate Peugeot's outstanding commitment but it feels just like a Ferrari Formula One season all over again.

Dave.

I really like Juha. He is good driver and a good person. He have never been involved in any weird things and is always on top of things. Yes, he is getting older and he isn't what he used to be, but he sure is one hellova driver.

Lets not forget the 2000 season, when Richard B almost won the tittle. That season, they both scored # of 1-2 finishes with Juha being second. Why? Two words. Team orders. SWRT wanted to "brew" Richard's skill at Juha's expense. They did a good job and now Rich is a world champ, but guess what, he is no longer with SWRT and I doubt he ever will be.

Juha, on the other hand, got really offended, when in 2001, SWRT offered Juha few rallies to driver. Those few, that they though Martin wasn't good at. That is when Juha left. I feel for him, and I wish he would get into ANY of the top teams. Because with their strenth, he will show us all, that he isn't done yet.

Sniff-sniff,

-Alex

Tommi has always been my favorite driver, and Subaru is my favorite team, so no surprise that I don't want any changes there.

I am also very impressed with Petter and agree that he and Markko are the rising stars, so best to hold on to him as well.

What I would like to see is SWRT pick up a third driver, maybe a tarmac specialist, to add another threat. Much like I see with Ford's McRae, Sainz and Martin, and Peugeot's Grunholm, Burns and Harri.

...oh, and I think McRae will go to Citroen.
go Skoda

IQ test:

Juha to rally is like

a) Irvine

b) Hakkinen

c) Villeneuve

to Formula 1?

Send your answers to [email protected] and fly high...

Personally I think Tommi's bad season is mostly bad luck and bad engineering on the background. Tommi will lead the way, whatch and smile

I wouldn't like Colin back at Subaru. Tommi and Petter will do just fine. Maybe a third driver with driver's license would also be nice

Personally I would love to see Colin behind the wheel of a potent tarmac car like Citroen.
I think having Colin with Citroen will give them someone they are looking for to be competitive on gravel and with experience on that kind of surface too
Subaru should try and get Carlos though, hopefully he doesn't retire any time soon. They should still try and run three cars with three competitive drivers
-Tommi brings experience and hope for the present
-Hollywood brings youth and the future or SWRT
-??? to help with tarmac events or with points

Maybe Gronholm will get fed up of Burns and want to leave Peugeot....Yeah right
