Keep going. I'd just bring the trunk into a body shop and have them look at it. The guy who complained about not being able to access the back of the metal maybe scared you away. Just bring it in and see what they'll charge. I can't imagine you are the first person in the world to make this request.

I got tired of looking for a wingless as well. So I made some plugs at work and welded them. Took it to a body shop and they did the bondo. I'll post pics when I get home. I'm on the iPhone app.

I realize you are not in Philadelphia, but I have a spare wingless trunk sitting in my basement. It is a custom white which is close to AWP (but not exact). All welding already done professionally. It's the exact trunk shown in these pictures:

I have two trunks ones with the sti wing and th wrx wing that i dont use. Was definetly looking into doing this to it. I guess it seems the best way to go is trunk swap. But great write up!

I'd suggest going to your local forum on here and asking if anybody is willing to help you with it. Offer beer/food/whatever and I'm sure somebody can help out. All you need is a welder and a grinder. |

That 150 is just for welding too. Not even body filling. Ima try to ask around a bit. What forums section would you think I should post in?

Just an update guys, apparently there's this stuff called "JB weld" it's supposedly cold weld made for metals. Been looking at a lot of reviews and some people are saying its "God" in a tube. I think this might be the solution.
Costs under $20 bucks. Melting temp is >500 Fahrenheit and cold resistance til like -86. Since I live on earth near the shoreline. I don't think that I'm going to hit those temps Going to purchase those guys tomorrow! |

You'll probably need a grinder to smooth out the JB Weld. Check around at local welding shops, they may be more willing to give it a shot than an autobody shop.

JB weld is pretty amazing make sure to abrade (rough up) the surface you're applying it to so that it has something to adhere to. Use some 80 grit or 120 and it should leave it rough enough to adhere. Welding is better, but JB weld will last a loooonnnngggg time!
