from what i can see by the pictures posted up. the '05 2.5rs intake from injen looks like it'll even work on the 08-09 2.5i's!!!! (since it's been proven to work on the 06-07's, i have one installed.)

Good write up. After the holiday season passes and I get closer to auto X season and summer, I'm going to get mine set up.

Thanks for the info.

Default 2008 2.5i snorkus/intake silencer

Here are a couple shots of the 2008 snorkus/intake silencer...whatever you want to call it.

Looks like it has changed shape from other photos I have seen.

Yes, I run a K&N. And no, I don't want to talk about it.

is that snorkus a simple shape or does it have channels and ducts inside the outer shell? its hard to tell from the pic... almost looks like a milk jug. just curious what changes were made between 07 and 08. do you have any pics of the rest of the stock intake?

I actually didn't take it off to inspect it. However, it appears to be be a fancy milk jug.

What a rediculously complicated stock intake sytem we have on these things. It's like a maze.

Anyway, in all my reading about intakes, I thought that the hybrid was only supposed to change everything before the filter and leave everythng after alone. Did I get that backwords?

I'm still trying to figure this out but great thread.

It looks like I had it backwords and you did it as advised in another thread.

There's a lot of info out on this stuff.

I also notice you left off one hose. The one just to the left of the throttle body(as looking at it from the front), with the white plastic thing inline with a grey electrical connection on it. It looks to be a case vent or something?

Any further plans for that?

That only plugs into the hose on one end. the other end that clips to the "airbox" is just a mount. I looked extensively at mine when doing my intake modifications.

There really is no place to get them. If you're looking to mod your intake the prevailing opinion thus far is that the hybrid set-up is pretty much the best you can do on these cars. But there's nothing out specifically for the 08's yet, and that's what's being discussed in this thread.

Mwahaha 08 2.5i with a short ram intake. I used the same intake as cthomasset.

Upon resetting the ecu I experienced some sluggishness at all rpms, exactly as I had after my exhaust was installed. After about 30 minutes of driving these symptoms disappeared and no detrimental effects were felt. I threw a p01707 (bank 1 too lean), but have experienced no knocking. I just reinforced some of the seals with silicone and tightened things up. I'll update with how this helps things.

i've done a little more work to the intake and this is the result:

my theory is that because i placed the maf so close to the filter i was getting incorrect readings due to turbulent air. i hacked off most of the final straight section found on the intake and placed it between the maf and filter. the section is a bit larger than it appears because of the presence of rubber couplings on both sides. i am hoping that the straight section of pipe will produce airflow more agreeable with the maf. so far i have reset the ecu and completed 3 power cycles with no check engine light, but it is still too soon to call it fixed.

that piece of clear tubing that you ran to the homemade port you added is all for nothing. that white plastic thing you hooked the tubing to is not a sensor, its just the bracket that clips the sensor to the factory intake box. if you look in that side you will see that it goes nowhere and you should also notice that it was just clipped on. no seal or anything to make it air tight.

also, you do know that the title of this thread is "DIY hybrid intake" not DIY SRI", right?

Not trying to hack the thread, but does anyone know what the NA Accessport will accomplish?

More power and fuel efficiency?

i wasn't going to make my own thread and since it's related i think it's ok.

the white sensor was attached to a black plastic tube which was attached to a black rubber tube which enters the torque box. the stock setup looks as though it would be air-tight. i haven't followed the lines anywhere as i am scrambling for a few minutes just to get everything attached.

what exactly does the white sensor do?

you're supposed to keep your stock airbox and snorkus, thats why you're getting bad readings.

Question '09 Impreza outback sport performance parts

first of all i want to say how great this forum is. there is so much info on it and its awesome how helpful the posts can be. i have been researching for upgrades to my stock '09 impreza, i want to increase horsepower and fuel efficiency if possible. i have found exhaust systems, cold air intakes and ecu chips. nothing is specifically for 2009's. does anyone know if there are specific performance parts for 2009 impreza outback sports? any suggestions for performance parts? any focused direction is very much appreciated. thank you.
