Default How to remove hi-temp paint from exhaust?

I just traded my stock TBE + $200 for a 3" TBE, but it's painted black.

How should I remove the black paint from the axle back, and get it back to a shine?

Also, this is a Stainless Steel exhaust, with some minor rust.

Also, I actually got the muffler tip looking pretty good, I used Paint Thinner with Steel Wool, followed up by Never Dull. But my problem is that it was hard work, and I want to get the rest of the exhaust shiny and remove the paint, but I don't think I will be able to do it all with just paint thinner.

^^ elbow grease and more of the same.

honestly though, as long as the tip/muffler are shiney, who cares? noone is going to see any of the other parts.

a lil' something called aircraft stripper will do wonders. "Normally" used to strip paint off wheels, this fun stuff will work perfect. Spray (or paint) on, watch it bubble, wipe off. Couldn't be easier. find it at wally world or any auto parts store

I was going to buy it, but the guy said it was really strong... I might have to try it though.

I use aircraft stripper all the time for bicycles. It works great and won't eat metals, just paint, plastics, rubber, and your skin. Wear long sleeves and gloves. A pressure washer helps to get the bubbled paint off too.

Should I not use it while the exhaust is attached to the car?
