Red FHI 4/2pots. They were also running the narrower 17x7" gold wheels(we usually call them the UK WRX wheels.)

OK, Other than the Calipers and rotors from an 05 Sti, what else do I need for the conversion? Thanks!

Brackets to relocate the Brembo caliper

And either:
Oversize park brake pads or
DBA rotors made to fit the smaller park brake drum.

That's correct.

Mr. DBASteve, would you happen to have a spec sheet for the 5x114.3 294x24mm rotor that's used for rally?

Also I think I'm missing some newer Legacy/Outback/08 Impreza pad shape information.
The RA-R is 294mm x 24mm with 114.3mm PCD
The 114.3mm PCD hub has a larger mounting face so the current stock rotor wont fit over the hub. We should have some more info soon. Sample's on a plane from Japan.

Brake discs Front: 12.7 in./Rear: 12.3 in.
The front rotors of the '08 Sti have definitely increased in size. I've only seen the diameter (13.0") reported so far. I guess that would make them 330 mm, but 25.4 or what? Also, I don't know if this was a hub change or a caliper change, but I would bet hub change with the new car.

I've been hearing 12.7" quite a bit so far and Harman already put aftermarket rotors and pads on their car that I assume were meant for an 05-07. They'd also be at least sa thick as the old rotors which are 30mm.

Geez Subaru! The press seems to have received some bogus literature. Both here on Nasioc and in C&D and Motortrend, the new car has been reported with 13.0-f/12.6-r rotors. Now when I check the SOA site, they are listing the car with 12.7" rotors. I would have been happy with larger rotors- the EVO comes with 13.8" rotors for cripes sake!

The EVO X also weighs 3500lbs... maybe there's a reason it needs that extra rotor material...

Just to clarify, for the '06/'07 WRX with 2-pot rears used the 170mm parking brake, correct? So the '06 backing plates will work with the stock 170mm brake on my '01 2.5RS, and I can bolt the 2-pots right on with working parking brakes?

Thanks!

Well you can bolt the 2pots onto the 06-07 rear backing plates if youve installed those plates onto your car, including transferring your rear parking brake internals to the new plates. Getting the 06-07 backing plates onto your car is a whole separate operation and not easy. Thats why companies like Kartboy fabricated adapter brackets to bolt onto your stock rear backing plates to which you bolt the 2pot calipers.

Thanks! I also just got confirmation from the guys at Rallispec that this is the case- the 170mm parking brake does fit the '06-'07 brake setup. You're also right that the backing plate swap isn't easy, but I'm having a shop replace my wheel bearings so it makes sense to have them install the new rear brake setup as long as the rear hub and knuckle assembly is torn apart.

Thanks to everybody for a great, informative thread.

was part of the 02-to-03 WRX brake change a change in the bracket bolt thread pitch? In other words, on my early '02 car the 17mm bolts that hold the front caliper bracket onto the hub housing are 12x1.25 pitch. Did subaru change to a 12x1.5 pitch for the '03 and up?

I highly doubt it, FHI bolts are typically JIS and for 12mm this means 12x1.25

I think the brembos and possibly 4-pots have a different pitch but I'd assume all the sliders are the same.

So from what I gathered from reading the entire thread, and just for clarification...

To swap (06-07) 2-pot rears onto an 02 wrx wagon, I would need the (06-07) 2-pots, Kartboy brackets, (06-07) rotors, and compatible pads? That's it?

I wouldn't need the (06-07) backing plates if I had the Kartboy brackets? Therefore I wouldn't need bearings and all that extra jazz that I really don't feel like trying to attempt?

Correct?

Thanks a mil, this thread is exactly what I was looking for!!!
