There was a recall for that... take it to the dealer and you should get new control arms.

They were no help and said they cant because it passed the punch test in 2012 and its old and out of warranty, SOA said the same thing. I have to eat it and get it flat bedded to the garage. Every bolt is stuck and ill just break them off. Funny too because I think the airbag was done last year.

That's the Subaru part number for the replacement arms, joints and bolts - about $150

Thank You, If that's for both sides I should have got those. My single arm was 121. Shes off to the shop on Wednesday. SOA nor the dealer told me about that, one guy said just put used STI arms on it.

Thank You again. I sent SOA an email with a copy of that with notice of page 3 under dealership responsibility and the pics I took of the break and rust. We'll see. Much Appreciated!

My argument to SOA would be that the rust proofing spray obviously did not prevent the rust, as intended. So they either didn't apply the spray at all, or didn't apply it correctly. The point of that spray is to prevent exactly what happened to your LCA's. Good luck!

I was told by a Grant Noble at SOA that my car is out of its 36k warranty period and they will not extend warranty service. I already have the car at my Trusted mechanic, so this is in spite now. I could have died OR killed anyone in the oncoming traffic, to me, that's a big deal.

if it were my car, and I think it's a big deal also, I would absolutely replace the other arm also

While at my guy its getting both rear axles done and the driver rear wheel bearing. I told him that as soon as its on the lift to check the driverside LCA and to call if it needs replaced. Ill call on Monday and see if I have to get the front driver side done. I know its a pain because I had to get the rear lateral links and bolt to do the rear bearings. Its a cut and replace type of job. Friday, I picked my grandson up for school and got him home right before I went out to take care of my Mother, I could have killed anyone. Compassion, Thank You....

I took the car in, it took a week to get done but I noticed they put the rear axles on the wrong sides so the RR axle boot looks streched out. Is it ok to have them on the wrong sides or will something bad happen??

Rear axles are the same left to right. They have some 'splainin' to do.

(this is one of the reasons I don't like aftermarket parts on Subarus )

My service manual shows the left and right are different lengths for the 2006 WRX sedan and wagon.

Wagon rear right 357.5 mm
Wagon rear left 347.5 mm

That’s 10 mm difference and yes it’s significant and possibly dangerous since the axle isn’t fully seated.

If it’s seated, then it’s pulling your entire suspension inwards, and it can possibly pop out of the rear differential.
