Default 2011-2013 WRX Intake Shroud?

Hey guys,

Attached to the hood is this intake shroud that sits above the RAM intake when closed.

Would removing that benefit the car in terms of breathing or is there a negative effect?

If we are thinking about the same thing then no do not remove that. It's purpose is to direct air into your intake track. Removing it will allow that air to flow straight into the engine compartment and bypass the intake track. It will have the opposite effect you are thinking and will cause the engine to breathe "worse."

Pictures would help clarify what you are referring to. Just open and close the hood a few times paying attention to how that "shroud" works by shifting air towards the intake.

Don't remove anything from the car like that. Things are there for a reason.
