They were cheap and are great in the snow. What is with all your douchey posts?

15" alloys were factory equipment on many Subarus, so I don't get the joke.

Meh, I like my cheap set of 15" alloy's from a 98 legacy GT just fine. Perfect for winter. Of course, I'm a guy who cares more about function than vanity. And this also isn't some rally/track WRX, it's a daily driver =0
Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic, it's all I've taken so far of the winter set. |

The stock tires blow. Fine accelerating and coasting in the snow, but once you try to stop, they slide all over.
Can't wait to try out the new Conti snows. |

Disagree about the accelerating in snow unless you drive like a granny. With the stock tires I could spin the tires in place on light snow and move less than 1mph with tc on.

I only had the stock tires through a mild snow blast. 4-ish inches. I tested it on a section of road that included downhill slopes and uphill climbs. Never slid moving, only stopping.

I picked up 4 good condition 215/45 Continental Contiwinter's over the summer for $120. Yay for seasonal deals. lol Running them on my FRS/BRZ wheels.
Probably selling them as a package in the spring. |

I wasn't posting them to sell.
We were on the topic of pricing of snow tires. |

I just grabbed some hankook i cept evos for winter... putting them on tomorrow, has anyone driven this tire? i would love to just go with blizzaks, since i live in colo and am up in the mountains a lot... but mainly daily driving on not snow (but low temps) lead me to the hankooks.

I've swapped out my General Altimax tires I've used the past 2 seasons and got the Dunlop Wintersport 4D this year - a performance winter tire. Remains to be seen how they perform in the snow, but they truly excel in 90% of the weather we see here: rain, or cold, dry days

I just drove through the snow storm we had last night to pick up my daughter from the bus station at 1:00 AM. Bridgestone Blizzak WS60 tires mounted on old 16" WRX wheels.
Impreza did great, but I knew it would after testing it in the Adirondacks last winter. We passed many cars that had slid off the road. |

Unfortunately we didn't get any snow, just cold rain, so I haven't had a chance to have any fun in the snow... :-( |

did donuts in work parking lot yesterday am, for some reason all my co workers came in late yesterday. Not looking forward to rain, then slush, then snow tonight mainly cause of a lovely conversation from the late co workers.
worker 1 says: i hate all those ppl with 4x4 I say: well if I have awd and snow tires I don't want to be driving 20mph or less because you were too cheap to buy snow tires. Bottom line: we agreed to disagree, there are two types of ppl in the world those too cheap to spend 400 bucks for snow tires and end up in a ditch with a deductible to pay and those not stupid enough to put their families lives at risk over something so simple. Which one are you? ciaccmo: In regards to the hankook I hope they work well for you had a bad experience with the ipike or winter pike or whatever they called that tire so swore off hankook tires all together. |

I agree with you, and in the end, I don't think snow tires are as expensive as they seem initially:
So you see, the initial investment might seem steep, but in the end it really isn't very expensive if you look at the big picture. |
