I dont see myself settling down with a boring car anytime in my entire life. MPG in my WRX is a joke though, 15 average, ALL city with a sh*tload of stop and go. Worth it, f*ck electric cars And I'd go with a WRX over the STi for your needs, considering the WRX is barely slower. If thats somehow too slow for you, then stage 2 will put you out about $2k and you'll be faster than the STi.
C'mon... join the turbo dark side... I know you want to |

No one is going to talk you out of trading in your car. If you can afford it then do it. OR save up and buy a car for the weekends to have fun in.... BUT REALLY just trade the car in and stop thinking about it.

When I graduated college and started a full time job I went out and bought a 2005 pontiac GTO as a toy / play car. Loved the car to death but decided to trade it in along with my DD at the time ('06 Grand Prix) for a nissan Xterra a few years later....the X was cool and all for what it was but I desperately missed driving something fun. Needless to say last month I traded the nissan in for a '13 WRX. Once you've got the itch for performance cars you've got it forever, I say get what you want, life's too short to drive boring cars.

Why are hatches cheaper? I don't get it. Less likely to have passengers = less liability? Quote:

Ever driven one off-road? The Hummer has served me well, but it is the Internet so we need to let everyone know how stupid they are, right? Last edited by BellyUpFish; 06-12-2013 at 08:13 AM. |

So, you like spirited driving?
Keep the Impreza. If your finances work out (wait until after you are married and settled in to determine your budget - bad financial decisions and new marriage can lead to a lot of arguments) get yourself something for the track. Why? #1 - it's much safer than driving fast on the street, both physically and driving record wise. #2 - if you think you drive fast on the street, wait until you get on a track for the first time, think you're flying, and watch everyone else blow by you like you're a road cone. Your budget will determine what you can race. Doesn't really matter if it's an open wheel Formula car, a Miata, or a racing kart - you'll find yourself going faster and having more fun than you ever will on the street. |

I'm not looking to track, either. I just want a car that has the pep when needed. Merging on an on-ramp or highway, accelerating through a turn on a back road, and the occasional pin 1st and 2nd gear. Just enough to hear the turbo spool and motor growl! |

I'm with the Bot. Open wheel Formula car is the only way to go.

OP, try rallyx and enter SA (stock AWD) class.
You will gain new appreciation for driving control. A few years ago some dude used to do well in his class with a POS stock Altima automatic with regular stock like tires. Rallyx has taught me how to "have fun" with a fricken van and a Toyota Yaris. By "fun" I don't mean "fast"; I mean the challenge of driving consistently within set limits, a lot of similarities to momentum driving. I realized long ago that the secret to going fast when you actually do have a performance car is still about being able to consistently drive up to a limit; whether or not that limit is an actual physical limit (like at the track) or artificial limit (like 5/10ths). When you can get consistent with control like this, you end up being fast when you actually get to drive a performance car in the proper venue (ie track). That being said, maybe you should put stiffer springs and better tires on your Impreza... makes a huge "feel" difference. |

Well if he had a GTI, maybe she would be happy with a Rabbit? Are my VW/vibrator jokes making sense?
She gets a Rabbit, he gets a WRX, everyone's happy |

The boost bug is a terrible disease. You are never cured, it only goes into remission. I'll be 28 in 2 months. My STI will be my 5th turbo car when it arrives. I have a 4 year old and an understanding old lady, she let me buy the STI when I paid off my Harley
Embrace the disease! |
