When I bought my US 2007 STI Ltd in Calif., I had to pay an extra 6% duty for a Japanese car to bring it into Canada and register it in BC. This is still the case. Otherwise, I think the cost is just a bit more for the equiv. equipment. I think I saved about $4,000 over buying an STI in Vancouver- however, there were no Ltd for sale in Canada.

Nothing wrong with lots of luxury options on a car with a pedestrian brand. Have you seen the spec sheet of a Focus Titanium? |

A better question might be "Why can't I get a white Subaru with a black interior". That really just comes down to manufacturing, and when costs need to go down, so does flexibility |

Not really custom. I have an accessory BOOK from Japan when I was there on 08. I ask to bring some, just some of what was in that book. They were/are all OEM things. I did talk to one of the guys responsible for our accessories at the Impreza training and some of it was explained to me. Again, it comes down to cost for the most part. |

Outback AWD MSRP range $23,295 - $31,695 Venza AWD MSRP range $28,875 - $37,915 Edge AWD MSRP range $32,930 - $38,960 Crosstour AWD MSRP range $34,440 - $36,540 Take AWD out of the equation, and Outback's still considerably cheaper, even with standard AWD... something like 20% cheaper than the cheapest Venza, IIRC. If you can afford Venza, Edge or Crosstour, I can see cross-shopping Outback to save some serious money. Same reason Subaru appeals to some Euro-brand owners. |

^^^ You have to use transaction prices for a fair comparison. Edge gets discounted heavily and Outback not so much (at least in my region). Crosstour had a lot of incentives last time I checked since it is not selling well. I have been cross shopping these vehicles for a while. I made the mistake of showing Subaru AWD (comparison) video to my wife. She doesn't want to buy any other brand AWD/4WD vehicle. So we will be probably getting an Outback. I am leery of getting a 2013 because of the new engine and second generation CVT. Might wait for 2014MY so that all the kinks will be worked out by then.

Also if you wait to 2014MY, in 2015 an ALL NEW Outback will likely be coming up for 2015MY... |

^^^ But this will be the first implementation of FB25 with second gen CVT. I certainly won't buy 2015MY because it will be first year for ALL NEW Outback. I tend to keep my cars for 10~15 years, so I stay away from first year redesigned cars.

Fuji Heavy Industries is on of the pioneers in CVT tech and they license a lot of tech out to other companies. I wouldn't be too concerned about the first CVT connected to a FB25 blowing up or anything. |

The 2013 will probably be fine, but I suppose the 2014 would be an even safer bet. Sometimes toward the end of runs, though, I think the cost-cutters find ways to shave expenses by cutting corners. But then again, Subaru usually keeps adding value by upping the feature content, too, such as via a Special Edition package. *shrug* Lots of things to weigh. |

If you don't see one in person, you just don't understand. I also prefered the old one... up until seeing the new wagons in person. Saw so many in Japan. They are much more aggressive and muscular. Maybe feminine is too generous to describe the previous legacy. It was not feminine like a Porsche or Ferrari, but rather weak, low presence. Kind of like the New WRX/STi vs GD. Makes mines look so outdated, when parked next to a 2011/2012 |
