Rota Grid 18x9.5 and 265/35R18
I am looking at purchasing 18x9.5 Rota Grids and 265/35R18 tires. I can get a terrific deal on tires in this size. What kind of stretch am I looking at, if any at all? Pictures would be great, just want to make sure these tires will fit well and look good.
Not that it matters, but I have an 02 Bugeye Sedan with Megan coilovers. Disclaimer: I did search, couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!

The stretch is going to be getting those to fit on your car. What offset?

If you want those wheels you need smaller tires unfortunately. |

+38 from Wheeldude.com...what can i do to get them on there? I am not dead set on the tires, but it is a great deal. How would a 8.5 +44 look and what tire for it?

Personally I wouldn't go with any less than a 245/40R18 on a 9.5" wide wheel but that's not to say people don't stretch more. A 245 is a slight stretch but doesn't look crazy it will also give you a slight tilt in the sidewall to help with fitment. I am not familiar with the 2002 Bugeye's body but there are plenty of them on here running 18x9.5" Grids. I would search the Rota Thread and the Bugeye Thread for similar fitments and PM the guys there to see what was required for fitment. To fit these with proper camber adjustments I would assume Coilovers, Camber Plates, Camber Bolts, and possibly Control Arms were required but I'm not familiar with 2002's so start doing some digging.
As far as the 8.5" +44's goes they will have much less concavity but will generally require much less work to get them to fit. You can run a 235 or 245 on the 8.5" pretty easily. Last edited by Improbus; 07-27-2012 at 03:46 PM. |

Ask an you shall receive.
265/35R18 Dunlop Star specs on 18x9.5 +38 Rota Grids. They rubbed a little. a little fender roll took care of that. Car is for sale if anyone wants to know. |

I would go with +44 vs. +38 if available as well.

even the +44 9.5 is clearly not going to fit though. just look at the shot posted - they're sticking out a hell of a lot more than 6mm.

OP: Are you actually trying to get more tire on there for a purpose(ie: Dirty2.5RS), or are you just looking to go hellaflushtard? |

Yeah +44 will still stick out. I think mine stick out 1.5inches (38mm) in the front.

Wow I really like that width and fitment, that would be a great setup for a track day! Looks very functional

it would NOT be good for a track day. it would slice the tyres to pieces on the fenders.
now, if it was +44 and cranked over with the sort of camber you see on the track? well then it might be. |

I've had these tires on for about 2 months. I had 255/35R18 RE11s on before. |

Hi guys, New to the forum. Just got a 2012 STI hatch back in march. I am confused because I've been reading posts about how 18X9.5's won't fit on our cars and yet i see them on tons of STI's. Ive even seen some where the rear fenders are rolled and there is plenty of room, doesn't even look like it would be anywhere near rubbing. So correct me if I'm wrong but would they fit if you had spacers in the front (so it would fit over the Brembos) and a slight roll of the fenders in the rear?

cole 9.5's will fit in the 2011 widebody just fine. it's just brake clearance you need to factor in. people saying they won't fit are probably saying they won't clear the brakes. |

Okay thank you vicious_fishes, I'm probably going to put 5mm spacers on the front when I get mine next spring.

well just see if you can confirm the brake clearance. don't run a spacer unless you absolutely have to.

Ok, who said he has Brembos? He has Megan coilovers. So, from experience, I have XXR +48 8.5" 17 inch rims with 225 45 17's. I have very little room between the strut housing and the widest part of the tire (section width) and the 225's are at their limit on a 8.5" rim. So, the +44's on the 8.5" would fit better and give you a bit of room depending on what size tire you chose than the 9.5" +35 265"s.
