Default Mitsubishi Evo is being marked up $3500!

I went to my local Mitsubishi dealer yesterday acting interested in an Evo. They are getting one (just one) in 2 weeks. And they are marking it up an extra $3500. They told me I could put $1000 down and have first right of refusal on the car because no one was on the list yet. I guess thats because everyone is on the STi list. The salesman ask me what other cars I was looking at and I told him the WRX (I already own one, but I drove my wifes car there). He said the Evo would blow the wrx away. So I shut him up by saying "What about the STi?"

Total price for the Evo: $34,000

I'm sure that there are Subaru dealers marking STi's up unGodly amounts, too. I would like to think that you'd be able to find a Mitsu dealer that would sell at MSRP.

STi i figured 35-39k depending on dealer alone(what more options would ya want??)

evo will blow the sti away anyways since the sti has no aftermarket support since only na gets the engine There's more evo parts than civic parts to be had out there. Plus the evo doesn't look like crap

Sweet jesus, you mean STI buyers are going to be stuck with a 4.6 second 0-60 dog for a while? The horror!

I think the Impreza looks much nicer than the Evo. I do wish we got the JDM "bugeye" projector headlights rather than the redesigned ones though.

I spend a good hour molesting/humping/caressing the evo at the autoshow...for some reason no one really cared for it but me

nope

why would any japanese company make engine parts for a car they don't get? (ever notice how many ej25 parts they made?)

the evo is a far superior car and gets even better b/c of the HUGE aftermarket support the evo has unlike the usdm sti.

So ... a car you've never driven is better than a car you've never driven?

b_tapper, I don't think your opinion on the limited Japanese aftermarket available to the USDM STi is founded. For all we know all of the JDM parts, engine management, etc. could bolt right up to the motor no problem...add in likely US tuner support and you have little ground to stand on. Obviously you have a stong anti-Subaru sentiment as of now, and that is okay.

I thought you loved the SRT-4? Now you are humping the EVO?
