Keep in mind every car has a different feel so previous cars you have driven are different than the impreza.

short shift vs short shifter. The adaptor i bought keeps the shifter at the same height but shortens the actual action of the shift.

I like the height of the shifter just not the shift throw

If someone wants to add to the performance or handling of a "non sports version" of a car, why the fuss? I came for 500+hp cars and wanted something that got good gas mileage and handled decent. I personally wouldn't mind a little better performance out of any vehicle i own...even if it is an "econo box". No need to hate.
It isn't hate, you can do whatever suits you. I can predict that it will be cheaper for you to wait two years and buy the next generation of WRX and you will both save money and have better performance that you will ever wrangle out of your 2.0i.

There are always a few people who do impress me with their work, though. For example some guy retrofitted a Hayabusa motor into a Kawasaki ZRX1200 and named it a Kawabusa.

Now not everyone who does something like that impresses me. You'd understand if you saw the Boss Hoss, where they drop a big block car engine (usually with car tires) into a Harley frame.

One is marvelous creative engineering that is crazy fast and functional, and the other is for men with small ding dongs (and can pretty much only be ridden safely in a straight line).

I think it's actually called a "boss hog" just for clarity sake. They are a little rediculous tho.

I am considering purchasing/installing a hood deflector on my metallic gray limited. Anyone have pictures of an install on this color Impreza? Also, for those of you using them, what is the quality like? Any other issues/complaints or things that I should know? Thanks!

Boss Hoss is the name of the company that makes them.

Isn't Boss Hog the "bad guy" from Dukes of Hazard?

Correct on both counts. Boss Hoss has nothing to do with Harley Davidson and usually comes with a bike tire. Running a car tire is referred to as the dark side but it's always a 300mm in the rear.

Can't wait for my fiance's impreza to get here. Got my Sti last month do I will be doing some comparing to see what parts swap over as I upgrade.

I want to get a hood deflector, I can get it for half the cost the dealer wants for it installed. Anyone know how it is mounted?

Can you copy and past the list and prices to this forum? I don't have access to your google docs.

I wanted to see the cost of the roof spoiler install.

Thanks

Where is the best place to by accessories for the 2012 Subaru Impreza? Online or store(California). The dealer prices are WAY to EXPENSIVE!

Does anyone know what this connector hanging down in front of my fuse panel is for? Just noticed it the other day and have no idea what it goes to.

For some reason, all my searches on this forum come up with people asking this question and no one answering with a decent answer. Very different than other brand cars I have owned.

After some searching around randomly, I discovered prices online can be much cheaper than buying OEM parts locally, but they kill you on shipping costs.

Out of desparation, I JUST ordered accessories from http://www.subarupartsmall.com/ which was cheaper than a number of other sources, but the usual ridiculous shipping cost. e.g. $250 of parts and $50 shipping. Single items are even worse, even for lightweight small items, which can cost almost as much for shipping as for the parts. e.g. $20 shipping on a $25 small part.

Hopefully someone will have a better answer. At least in time for my next order.....

Now about GOOD seat cover sources?..........

what accessories are you looking for? i think it depends...

for my floor mats, i combed the different local dealer websites and ultimately got a dealer close to me to match a price from another dealer.

i'd look for periodic sales. or, if you can just ask your dealer who you bought the car from, whether they can give you a discount since you bought the car from them? no harm in asking, right? (i did, but admittedly got those wrapped into the car purchase price when i picked it up. i haven't asked for any additional accessory discounts although i intend to soon shoot them an email about tweeter upgrade pricing to see if they can do something. if not, that's fine...just a 1 minute email expended )

Hey, thanks for the response. I am guessing since the car style is so new no one has jumped on board on getting accessories for cheap. I don't even know if they will be keeping this same style for the 2013 model. Subarupartsmall was one of the places I did find which was cheaper at the "add to cart" but then ended up being around 270-300 after tax and shipping. I think my best bet is to try and haggle with the dealership and say can they offer to me at "dealers cost" price with labor. I mean if the install wasn't so time consuming(roof spoiler, mesh grille) I would just buy it online and install it myself. but to just save $20-$30 and install my self I would just put all the pressure on the dealership to get it done right the first try.

gotcha: i'd call around and see if they might give you a bulk discount on so many items at the dealer you purchased from. and if not, then check with other dealers for at least a pretty common 10%-20% discount on all installed accessories, etc.

I ordered from Subarupartswarehouse.com on Sunday, got confirmation and tracking number on Tuesday, will arrive Thursday (tomorrow). Prices are good, certainly better than dealer. Shipping is high, but still a way better final price than going to my local dealer. Appears to be a dealer near Wallingford, CT running this site. I don't know about their customer service (yet).

Interestingly, when I Google search "Subaru parts" using Safari browser on my Mac, the text description for subarupartswarehouse.com shows a 15% off discount code (which worked). Google searches from a PC (Firefox/IE/Safari) show different text that does not mention the discount code (it's SPW-630, good thru June 30th, BTW).

I guess it's true, Macs ARE better.

anyone have the side cargo nets installed? worth it and useful?

i've never had cargo nets in my cars, but was thinking it might tidy up things in the cargo area of my HB and maybe useful for things that i don't want to flop over...

for eg, are the side cargo nets big enough to hold a 5 qt container of oil? (bought some last weekend was unamused to hear the container sliding around in the back and slamming into the seats and side panels)

I will even go for the $250 per pair, if fit and quality is excellent. Painful as that price is.

I have narrowed my search to Ruff Tuff or Wet Okole. But I would like to hear opinions or fedback BEFORE buying, for a change.

We hang onto cars a LONG time and I have seen a major improvement with seat covers, especially since I hike and mtn bike. But I have gone cheap before, and my wife wants nicer.
Those saying "you can't put seat covers on side air bags".... Crawl out from under your rock. That was dealt with in the cover designs about 10 years ago.

Your experience may wary, but I registered at my.subaru.com, and there is a 10% off accessories coupon there for the local dealer.
