It's still not a Subaru. By the looks of the pictures, the Robust looks more like a pickup truck........so it's not a Baja!

Cool

Well, slap a really good grill on it, put a Subaru oval on the grill, put a turbo 6 cylinder in, offer a low/high range tranny in it, for those who want it, and price it around $27,000 and I would buy one! I kinda like the looks of it!
Of course, it won't be called a BAJA, just like you won't see another BRAT. I wonder what, if it were to be built, they WOULD call it?
Any guesses?
Keep it under 90, folks!

You'd have to pay me to drive a VW. Overall, it looks ok, but the front end is hideous and I don't like the way the roll bar/rail things on the side of the bed only go up about 2/3 of the way. They should either get rid of them or make them meet up with the cab at the roofline.

I think it looks more like a wannabe Honda Ridgeline than a Baja. The Baja is one of a kind and it seems Subaru likes to make those kind of products. The Brat as well as the SVX come to mind right off the hop as well.

As for a name for a new BAJA inspired vehicle, why not name it DAKAR, and keep with the running theme of races that subaru will probably never run in.

I like the Dakar name. A V6 turbo with about 9 inches of clearance and a 2 stage transfer case. Use Toyota suspension, for the obvious reason of mods, and you have a great Cruck. One might half to use the Tribeca unibody frame, but that would be alright.

I feel a new thread coming, "If you were in charge of Subaru, what and how, would you design a new BRAT, Baja?" One could go with 2 seats, 4 seats, 2 plus 2 jump seats (providing the NATSC would allow it), and totally modiable for either autocross or rock crawlling. Don't forget the name. BRAT=Bi-drive Recreational All-terrain Transporter
