When I was looking at buying an S4 from washington the shipping costs were between 1200-1400. That was with campbell trucking and wrightway auto carriers. Seems alot of places have a location in Kent, WA they ship out of.

If I didnt get the good deal I did on my rex I woulda shipped an S4 up here.

Chano.

From Washington to Anchorage how long did it take in drive time? Did you just sleep in the car or are there a few places you recommend to stop at?

As mentioned with guns ammo, don't forget to leave the pepper spray at home too. It's apparently illegal in Canadia.
Awesome thanks!

@wrxak02 - idk what that means but I'm intrigued now haha

When I left Tyndall they told me i didn't need a passport "Military ID and orders are fine". Canada was less than pleased with that situation and I almost didn't get in the country. If you don't already have a passport it takes 4 weeks or you can have it rushed in 2 weeks . I got mine done at the post office on 3rd across from the Saturday market.

It was years ago, during the 'beanie baby' craze. They made a limited edition Canadian flag one, and the Mountie's at the border crossings were actually searching vehicles for just thoise, as they weren't supposed to leave the country. It was like 12-15 years ago. Sad that I remember that...

I didn't drive up from Washington this time around. I went to Montana, then up through Alberta, stayed with a nice NASIOC member there, and came up that way. Added an extra 1k miles or so, but it's whatever. I can drive 1k in about 20 hours. I did sleep in my car twice southbound and once northbound after Alberta. We can probably figure the same time southbound is the same time northbound, though, so let me relay my southbound time frame (with pictures of the following morning!):

I left Anchorage straight from work at 3PM on Friday, May 3rd. I fell asleep at Haines Junction around 1AM. That's 600 miles in 10 hours. My goal was to make it to Whitehorse, but I was really sick and my day at work was busy as heck so I was drained.

I drove 20 hours on Saturday, May 4th. Wound up in Prince George area. That's 1100 miles.

Lastly I drove 550 miles or so to Seattle on Sunday, May 5th.

On the way back, since I stayed in Edmonton, Alberta, for one night, I only needed to sleep in my car once. I left Edmonton around noon on Sunday, May 19th. I slept in some rest stop area around midnight, so basically 12 hours of driving. That would land me somewhere around Kinaskan Lake off Hwy 37, plus or minus 30 minutes of driving 75mph.

From there I drove 850 miles to Tok. I posted to my friends and family that I had made it there around 6:45PM or so. I made it back to Anchorage around 11:20PM.

The sky near Palmer was weird that evening on my way home.

On my southbound trip through Canada I drove around 68mph to 73mph almost the whole time. Northbound was about 75mph the whole time. I only stopped to get gas and pee. I mostly drank water since I didn't have much of an appetite. I only slept about 4-5 hours in my car each time, usually closer to 4.

The trip would've taken much longer with a female, but it would've been more enjoyable since I could've taken nicer pictures and rested up better.

That's actually hauling pretty well through those areas SLDWYS. Road conditions are not great and usually have lots of gravel & frost heave stretches.

That's about the same time we do on the bikes but we stop more often due to fuel range limits.

1966 Superformance Cobra - $47750 (Eagle River)

Quote:
This is a factory-built fiberglassed bodied AC Cobra Replica with a Ford 460 SVO crate motor and tremec 5 speed transmission. Superformance is the only factory built Cobra replica that is licensed by Carol Shelby due to their dimensionally correct design and Shelby hardware. This car has less than 3300 miles on it! Built in 1996, it has undergone several upgrades to ignition, intake and suspension. It has independent front and rear suspension (QA=1's), a polished edelbrock single plane intake manifold, aluminum motor mounts and upgraded shock mounts. The entire car weighs 2660lbs and is rated at 565hp/535 torque. It has the true Halibrand spin off wheels, and I have the soft top/toneau cover with side screens. This car has won several awards at local car shows and has been maintained in immaculate condition. I have current appraisal at over $50K, and it can be financed. I prefer local sales, cash or cashiers check, and I can assist with shipping at buyers expense. Additional pictures available upon request. No low-ballers, serious inquiries only. 907-eight, five 4-sixty three ten. Text, call or email.

I remember when Conti offered me $21.5k as a trade-in for my 2011 WRX Limited last year and kids were low-balling me all summer with $18k-$20k. Even at $25k I thought it was still a good deal. $21k for a 2008? This world is effed.

Well, I did make it down to Haines, AK in time for a ferry in sub 10 hours. Yes, I know, "dangerous! too fast! blarghblarghblarghcopsblarghdirtblarghheaves". But the heaves were freshly paved over, cops were non existent, and the highway was open.

Yea but that's a better way to sell.

No matter what kind of good deal you list it as people are going to offer you less. So you set the price high to allow room to negotiate.

Though sometimes people don't realize how upside down they are on their loan so they post ridiculous prices as well.

Epic Adventuremobile (aka 1998 Chevrolet Lumina) - $1300 (Anchorage)

Quote:
This 1998 CHEVROLET LUMINA began its majestic journey to Alaska in Florida over five years ago. With 166,000 miles of adventure under its belt, it's ready to explore with a new owner. This car loves all trips. Late night Fred Meyer run to buy pop-tarts? Yes please! Wrangell Mountains? I don't know abou--UM YES!

As you power up snowy hills and glide down gravelly inclines, you may be thinking, "Wow, that was a smooth ride!" That's due to the team effort of its FRONT WHEEL DRIVE, MICHELIN X-ICE TIRES, and NEW BRAKES installed in September 2012. You're welcome.

Sitting in the plush seats, jamming out to the crisp sounds of AM/FM radio, you will suddenly realize you are neither sweating in 80F nor shivering violently in -20F. This Lumina has the quickest AC and HEAT in all of the West. During the entire record breaking winter, this baby never once failed to start. By sheer willpower, it warmed itself without a plug-in while braving the icy elements without a garage to shelter it.

Now you may be thinking, "This sounds too good to be true!" And that's where you would be right.
- This champion of a car is missing its dipstick from the winter oil change. The body shop must have forgotten to reinsert it, and I didn't realize it was missing until my next oil change. My bad.
- There is cosmetic damage to the driver side headlight from when a car gunned it into reverse in a gas station lot. The cop thought he may be drunk, but we know for sure he was crazy because he did not accept our goodwill offering of Sour Patch Kids.
- There is cosmetic damage as well to the driver side door from a hit and run when the car was parked. Cosmetic damage only, because this car can take a hit like a man.
- It's a 4-DOOR AUTOMATIC with valid registration through November 2014. Did I say that was a con? Silly me, there's just so much epicness it's hard to keep track.

After realizing what a hot catch this car is, you're probably skeptical as to why I'm selling it. Well friends, I'm moving to Colorado at the end of the summer with my sister, and we bought an old family car to adventure around out there.

This sweet ride will be available August 1 (CLEAN TITLE and all), but it's ready for viewing and test drives starting. . .now!

Please respond via email with the subject line "CHEVY LUMINA".

Clean Rex for having 170,000 miles. Unfortunately the engine is in the trunk - #3 rod bearing went out. Great car if someone has a little time to drop a motor in. It comes with the roof rack and a set of summer and studded tires.
