So far, in my travels of the United States, I still feel that Seattle > everything else. Yeah, I'd like more sun/heat, but overall, it's still my favorite city. This is one more reason.

Interesting topic, I was unaware that the city was under such carbon controls. BTW, say what you want, I would totally drive that Nissan. |

Ever been to Boulder CO? ... But I do somewhat agree, Seattle is a nice place, and back when I was a lot younger, I dreamed of living there. Maybe sometime soon I will make it out there to live.

I can't quite decide which one is my more favorite city: Colorado Springs or Seattle. People complain about the constant rain and gloom over there, but I actually like that kind of weather. New York and Los Angeles would really benefit from this, though they both already have large fleets of hybrid Civics in their various transportation departments. LA's parking enforcement vehicles are Civic hybrids. They don't have a plug-in EV fleet like what Seattle is planning.

a fleet of Priuses or Civic Hybrids does not an environmentally sound city make. LA is unsustainable in the long term due to its water and energy requirements, whether people drive electric cars or cruise around on hoverboards.

I read this article this morning on yahoo.
http://www.seattlepi.com/local/40565...llution29.html A new report on air pollution by the American Lung Association gives poor marks to King County: An "F" for ozone levels and a "C" for particle pollution. The report, released Wednesday, comes as Department of Ecology officials wrap up a recommendation on how to handle the region's violation of the Clean Air Act last year. In August 2008, Seattle and the Puget Sound area exceeded a federal smog standard for the first time since the 1990s. That violation and the Lung Association's grades -- which cover the period from 2005 to 2007 -- are not an indication that Seattle's air became dirtier. Rather, they reflect stricter smog standards that the Environmental Protection Agency imposed last year. "Many counties got an F for the first time," Janice Nolen, assistant vice-president of national policy and advocacy for the Lung Association, said Tuesday. "That does not necessarily mean the air is getting dirtier. It means we've had unhealthy air all along." |
