Default Question about offset and wheel wideness: Do they cancel each other out?

So my current setup is 18x9 +42. Set up im planning on getting are 18x8.75 +35 (weird, i know). So theres a .25in difference. .25in is a 6mm difference and from 42 and 35 is a 7mm difference.

So what im asking is, which one would poke out farther from the fenders (ie: more flush)?

I guess you can put it as 18x9 +42 vs 18x8.5 +35. Which is more aggressive?

offset is a measure of distance between center of wheel and mounting point. In other words 7mm less offset means it "sticks out" 7mm more.

Adding wheel width adds width on both sides of center equally. In other words 0.25 (or 6.4mm) means 3.2mm on each side has been reduced.

So comparing the two, the 18x8.75 +35 is 10.2mm further from the strut and stick out an additional 3.8mm compared to 18x9 +42

I'm an engineer. I can tell you the answer to your question to three significant figures but answering what you'd notice? That's your call. What I would notice looking at them personally would be 10mm of wasted space where a tire should be.

XXR 527
Not out till Jan 2011 but they come in the wierdest sizes ever...making my second guess them. But kinda like that style wheel though, kinda like the Enkei nt03+m but without that inner ring.

Nothing about your car would justify wheels that wide.

I don't see anything in this thread that would justify you offering your pointless comment. It seems you still refuse to understand that not everyone has the same aesthetic sense that you do, and that what you think looks good on your car doesn't necessarily play into what they think looks good on their car.

What is this "k00" thing you keep babbling about? Since you always use zeros instead of Os, I think you must be using the vigesimal numeral system (base 20). k00 would be 7600 in the decimal system that most of us are used to, but I don't understand what you mean by "7600ness". I can only assume you think it means something, because you've been making the same sort of seemingly nonsensical statements for at least a couple of years now.

just like all the rest of the blithering idiots here....nobody can understand what the **** they are on about or their total and complete lack of logical thought process or forethought and the absolute maniacal need for doing the most insanely stupid things to their cars.

just to be k00

If by decent you mean poor quality, then yes you are correct.
