BIG C.T. in-car video
I just finished uploading the in-car from SS11. I did a pretty good time on this one--11th overall and only 20/100ths from 7th. It's a VCD quality MPEG, so it's about 99MB for 9 minutes. I thought about making it smaller, but I figured you'd rather have a 99MB video with great quality and sound than a 50MB video that sucks.
www.rallywrx.com/ct11.mpg The roof-cam location tends to minimize the perception of sliding--you can be sure that it felt much more dramatic inside the car than it looks in the video. The light colored gravel is VERY slippery, but the dirt underneath gave good traction. For speed reference, 2nd tops out at ~55mph, 3rd at ~80mph. I only get into 4th a couple of times. The pace notes are on a number system, where 1 is very tight and 6 is very open. Also, you can see the silver EVO in the tree about 20 seconds from the end. Let me know what you think! |

Just checked--I'm getting 30KB/sec from work. It was much faster last night, closer to 60KB/sec, when I uploaded it.

Dammit Jon, upload either Stage 8, 10, 12 or 14, so I can see myself marshaling!
Great video! Thanks for sharing. Ross N. |

We were coasting through 14, but we did 12 pretty hard. Lessee, at 10MB per minute, that comes to... 250MB for the whole thing! Where were you--I'll post a clip of us going by.
I'm also in the process of putting together a few stages each from CT, Black River, Maine Forest and Sno*Drift onto one VHS tape. Since I haven't gotten more than a couple of stages per rally on video since STPR, a compilation seems like a good idea. |

That was the best thing I've seen on this board in a long time. Thanks for posting that Jon.

Jon, for 12 I was standing at the gate 50 yards up the road from the first spectator point, the left 90 junction. Brown jacket and orange safety vest.
Try to get the junction in the clip as well, as my friend Sean would like to see himself too. Edit: By the way, I'd pay for a copy of that tape. Thanks, Ross N. [This message has been edited by grimlock (edited March 20, 2001).] |

I LOVE dial-up!!! I have been downloading since 6:30 (9:40 now) and I have about 23%!!! Loving it so far! I can't get a feeling of the sliding. It is still great!
