Let us know what the tech says and how it works out when you do. Mine reacts the same way yours does. For now I just try to time my stops as more of a slow crawl so it doesn't engage.

To those looking at the problem... That's awesome! Keep us posted, I think a lot of people could benefit from a fix to the problem and it *might* even quell this debate

I still wonder about you .

Mountain. Pornhub is so far everyone's favorite. As for car parts sites... its preference. I love cobb. It may be pricey but I Love their products. I got my q300 from a seller from this site. He's pretty competitive on pricing. pm me if you wanna know who it is. But please for the love of God... don't mention climbhigh and dcorn. He might charge you an "incompetence" charge

Climbhigh.... climb out of your cave and delete your noob account. Go read a comic magazine. 1 year with Nasioc does not make you important. Neither does it make me... but all your responses makes you look dumber every day. I probably had more sports cars than you. I probably banged more chicks than you... more than likely . But its not relevant in the case of "You just don't get it that the stupid hill assist is a friggin crutch and not needed". Simplicity you cannot relate to. Anyways.. how old are you? Responses suggest 16. And if you are not I am sorry. But in all our minds... you are. Oh well... Nasioc trolls still run wild. I need a beer and some porn already. Oh... and to use my car WITHOUT that dumb hill assist that you probably have...lol. Get it through your thick heads your momma dropped you on "WE DON'T LIKE IT AND ALL YOUR EXPLANATIONS ARE IRRELEVANT!!!" I owned one of the first few 04 STI's shipped from Japan. It didn't have it. Now time for some awesome porn!!!!!
So wait... You joined in '04 and have just over 200 posts on the site, and somehow you are some high and mighty forum veteran, calling other people noobs and morons? I'm guessing you are the 16 year old troll in this case.

Not one of your posts in this thread has been constructive or explanatory in anyway. You just whined about how you don't like the hill hold and Subaru shouldn't put it on their cars because you aren't a fan of it. Maybe you should have kept that supposed '04 STI? When people tried to explain how it works and how to use the feature properly, you just whined some more and called people 'misinformed', even though we know exactly what we're talking about. Maybe you should get your car looked at too, because something must not be working right.

Oh, and please DIAF

I personally like the hill assist. I live in the Catskill Mountains in NY and NYers get on your behind. It has saved me many times from rolling back and hitting the car behind me.

O K, Adjusted the clutch switch today and went for a test drive, unfortunately there's ice and 4" of snow on all the roads here today so I am only 99% sure that IT WORKED!!! The brakes seem to come off much earlier now when I start to engage the clutch, the switch is overriding the timer and is releasing the brake when I start out now, which it never did before, it only released when the timer released it... We need someone else to do this and see if it works on more than my car...

What I did was turn the adjusting nut on the drivers side of the bracket 2 turns (loosened it) to move the switch towards the clutch lever fulcrum point, then tightened the nut on the other side of the bracket (towards the front). All you need is a 14 mm wrench, and be a contortionist to do it... It's the top adjusting point not the bottom, the bottom is just for the stopper for the clutch

EDIT; Turned the nut 1 more turn and now I'm 99.99% sure that my problem with the hill assist is over, I now can take off any way I want from a hill, and the brakes come off in time to not bog or stall the engine. Whether they still drag a bit or not I don't know, as I can't really feel it with the drag/resistance of 4" of snow I'm plowing through...

The MAX you should adjust it is so that when the switch plunger is pushed in, there's a 1 to 2 MM space left for it to still go in, so that no pressure is applied to the body of the switch... http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...t=IMG_1506.jpg

So I was 9 years old when I joined according to you. Ignorance is bliss in this young Jedi. Post count don't mean crap if each of them are as ignorant as yours. Technical mumbo jumbo negates everyday driving. Unless you and everyone here are robots then a tenth of a second reaction time would make a difference. I feel for you... yes I do. True noob comback right there... diaf...haha. So 2000. I'm out and thread should be locked...with you in it. Please don't try to respond to any other threads as other's will think you are an engineer wannabe. Leave it to those who know. And no.. google sometimes does not make you more intelligent. It just shows how you need to win. I give up. Have a wonderful new years everyone.

Oh and Mountain... q300 is the exhaust I picked up from the vendor. Great guy to deal with. My other goodies are slowly being ordered.

WRX GOD:

INVIDIA right? how do you like it? did you go turbo-back or cat-back? Resonated, catted?

I would really like a louder exhaust so i can hear where i am on the tach... stock is a tiny bit too quiet with music on to revv match on the sound alone. I hate how some subi's sound without resonators/cats tho. Trying to avoid Cheapening the car with an obnoxious exhaust. Where is the Invidia on the decibel scale?

Took delivery of my first manual transmission car today; 2012 Sport Premium. Once I roughly got flat starts smooth, I turned off the hill start assist. Practiced for 40 minutes today driving around the neighborhood with various hills and flat roads. I did 15 miles around the blocks just to get a feel for it.

It's been 2 days now since adjusting the switch on my clutch and I can't even make it hold the brake on too long like it used to, even when I press it as hard as I can then start to engage the clutch as fast as I can the brakes come off, I am now 100% sure that it was the switch not being adjusted right at the factory that was causing all my hill assist brake being on too long problem all these years, and only the timer was turning it off after 1.5+sec. instead of the switch when I started to engage the clutch...

Come on guys, someone else who has this problem needs to do this, and then we can spread the word how to fix it without turning it off, if it works on other cars too...

WOW, A whole week has gone by and nobody tried this "fix" yet, I guess it's not as big a problem as I thought... As to my car, the snow is now gone off the roads around here and I can just feel the brakes coming off sometimes when I start off on a hill faster than normal but no more bogging let alone stalling the car. Most of the time I don't even realize that the brakes were on...

Mine has been on blocks all week, waiting for parts. Got a camera? I bet pics of your adjustment might spur a few others to try it.

I have the page from the manual with picks in it posted and a small write up on how to do it in post # 107... It took me 5 minutes for the 1st adjustment and 1 minute for the second adjustment and I was finnished. Anyone that can change their own oil can do this (just don't over adjust and bottom out the switch for full pedal travel)... The hardest part was keeping the ass up, and the head down, becoming a contortionist to reach it...

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but i spoke to the dealer about my wrx and the service mgr said there is no way for them to turn off the hill assist as it is controlled by the ECU. He seemed to agree when i said that was bull****. I will be trying this is the very near future.

I would like to point out that i mentioned this "fix" way back on page 2. I just suggested adjusting it all the way instead of to an less severe point.

It was much easier for people to get enraged about such a feature being on their race car.

I don't know, just thinking that it's a 2 position switch, maybe, and if you did that, the starter would not start as it too would also be effected...
