Default Difference btw 04 wrx and 04 STi pink lateral links (pics added)?

Hi guys,
I have a bad feeling that I have just recieved a set of lateral links for a WRX (I have an 04 STi). I will post a pic of what I recieved after work, but in the meantime, can someone please post a pic of what I should have recieved for my car?

Thanks guys, il post pics very shortly, but it is the STi pink lateral links, I bought them used and was told these WILL fit an 04 STi.

Here is what I recieved:

Thanks in advance!

Dan

Dan the difference lies in the bushings i believe. Those 'pinks' have pillowball bushings on all 4 links.

I was under the impression '04 STi lateral links were different.

Sent you a PM also (edit: not really, clear your PM box n00b )

The difference is length- the STi links are slightly longer. Also the STi set comes as a four piece set as it already has pillow sway links.

The front link will look very similar to what you have (only slightly longer)- the rear will have a single blade like your oem rear link (and will be longer too)- you'll recieve no "boxes" or sway links w/ the STi setup.

www.spt.subaru.com

lists the following:

the photo below is for the WRX

whereas this photo below is for the STi

the difference is pretty obvious.

The longer lateral links were introduced on the 2005 STi model. The 2004 STi still has the same length lateral links as the v7 and WRX.

You know it would nice if SPT would get their **** together so we can end the confusion between SPT/STi "pink" parts and JDM STi "pink" parts.

Thanks for all the help guys!

Soon2Bgreat- lol, I made a little space for your PM, fire away!

So what Im gathering is that I can use this set up if I were to buy a WRX rear sway bar right? Im not sure if i should make this work on my car or sell it and wait forever to find a set for a good price for the STi...

At any rate, if there is something else someone wold like to add to help me out that would be great, it took me a while to find these things so Id like to explore all my options.

Thanks!

Actually we're both wrong The WRX sedan links are ~412 mm eye to eye- which is longer than the 04 STi lateral links (~406mm), and the same length as the 05+ STi's.

I found this out the hard when when I swapped in 2004 STi rear lateral links/sway links/sway bar- only to find out I didn't have enough toe adjustment-- the very most toe out I could get was a couple of hundredths of toe in- I couldn't get to 0 w/ the STi lateral links.

I just measured a set of WRX sedan lateral links which I happen to have in the basement - I'm getting quite a collection of bits and pieces

Theroetically you shouldn't have the opposite problem I did as your lengths will be the same front and rear- so toe shouldn't be an issue. You will need a WRX sedan bar I'm pretty sure, but you could always bolt this set up and see how the sway links sit- if they are angled too much you'll need a new bar.

Thansk BIGSKY, my buddy has an OEM wrx sway bar for me to use if I need it.

So just to be clear, I can install these lateral links and still have normal adjustment for toe? The lateral links will bolt up correctly (with the exception of possibly the rear sway bar end links)?

Thanks again guys, and does anyone have a clear underbody shot of these components bolted up?

Thanks!

Thank you for the picture!
Im curious if replacing the endlinks that came on the boxes with some helix end links I have here maybe it would help a bit (they are shorter). I also have a cusco rear sway bar here i was hoping to put on, but i guess not. Anyway, Im going to try installing these tomorrow, so if there is any suggestions fire away!

The weak point in my opinion is not the endlink itself but the sti-supplied pink metal adapter box. searching around here, you will find several people with them broken.

I got poltec to design these and the ones in the picture are the first set they ever made - and they were perfect and indestructible..

Thanks you very much for all you rinput in my thread, this is really helping me. In your opinion should i just wait and get the Poltec boxes and a WRX sway bar? What path would you take if you were in my position? Thanks again for your help, and those boxes and endlinks looks great. If it comes down to it Ill get the Poltec boxes you mentioned.

The 05/06 STi had slightly longer lateral links than did the 04 STi. With the change in front arms on the 07 STi I'd hate to make a guess

Will a set of JDM V8 Sti Lateral links and RSB w/ endlinks work with my 2005 WRX? I was thinking about getting a set for my WRX, I just was wondering if everything will fit and bolt up properly. Any information would be helpful. Thanks guys.
