Default WHY is my car so heavy? how much does yours weigh??

3350 with my fat ass in it, 1/2 tank gas, single 10" sub in small box (and not super high end super heavy sub) That also includes the spare. I would have though I would be sub 3000lbs

Here is what I have removed/replaced w/ lighter parts

alternator cover (plastic) and brackets that hold it
factory boost contoller brackets and cover (just bolted it to the tower)
Glove box brace
driver side knee brace ( I know of the danger)
catless up pipe- TurboXS stealthback with no cats
Coilovers (possibly same weight as factory suspension)
Fog lights (mesh covers in place
the whole intake horn/box/boost fluid bottle (lol) thing
replaced air box with perrin short ram (lighter by a touch)
All floor mats but the drivers side
rear door speakers
Factory radio, replaced with single din Alpine(no idea if its lighter)
trunk carpet/sound mat
Lighter crank/alternato pulley
hood liner gone

HERE IS WHAT I HAVE ADDED THAT IS/MAY BE HEAVIER

22mm whiteline sway bar front
20-24mm whiteline rear sway bar/links
mid sized Eclipse amp (about 10x10x2 size)
XM reciever/XM antenna
10" eclipse sub in small MDF box(prolly like 20-30 lbs, not super heavy)
TurboXS TMIC
GFB bov
Samco IC hoses (IC outlet and recirc only)
VF24 (easy 3-4lbs heavier)
My 225lb ass(on a diet as of last week)
The car also has P1's in 17x7 with 225/45/17 Azenis, which I hear are heavy

Is it just me or is my car REALLY heavy? I keep hearing that the WRX weighs 3000lbs, but with the things I have removed, which make more/the same diff as the things I added, I would expect 3220ish or less with me in the car.

My car (wagon remember) weighed in at 3050 without me in the car, 1/8 tank of gas.

The only things I've done are header/uppipe and turboback with a highflow cat, and struts that could be considered 'losing weight'.

Your P1/Azenis are at least 5lbs each (total 20) over stock. P1 are 19ish lbs (so that's 3 each corner right there) and the tires are about 3-4 also over the stock 205/55-16 Bridgerocks.

Is the weight of the WRX sedan with or without the rear wing? That could be more.

Window washer fluid?
A/C removed?
Smaller Battery?

Remove that stereo crap. Won't help you go fast4r.

Curb weight of a 5MT sedan is 3085 lbs. I don't really see anything on your list of removed items that would qualify as a big weight saver. And like KC said, you added a heavier wheel/tire combo, and plenty of stereo stuff.

My wagon with a full tank of gas and me in it and my heavy rims comes in at 3398 Lbs. I weighed it twice 3 months appart and at different scales and it was with in a few lbs.

If you really want to lose weight, lose the spare, trunk carpeting, winshield washer resivoir (not that it is that heavy but so the dumbasses who change your oil dont fill it up everyimte you take your car in), definitly lose the stereo, go to lighter rims (rota Tarmacs have the same design and are lighter, or something like Gram Lights), and change your battery to an Optima or something else that is much lighter then the heavy stock battery. Also you might want to get a trunk relocation kit for the battery so the weight you have is more evenly distributed.

3040 with my ass in it and all the crap in the back. Oddly enough, it almost seems like it's less the stock by itself, yet all I've done is add to it. I will have to roll by the scale and double-check that number tonite.

Where to weigh in? I'd like to tip the scales but the car is a little too heavy to lift overhead and step on the bathroom scale with.

hey guys, i have a 99rs, and i was wondering a few things regarding weight. one, my car is much heavier than a wrx, why is that? i would assume some of it is block weight, but what about the rest? and two, what are some good ways to loose massive weight on my car. i'd love to get down atleast around 3250 (3750 now). and three, where do you guys go to weigh your cars, i've always wondered that. thanks guys.

3750?????????????????????????????????????

A 99 RS is 2805 lbs according to specification from the factory.

Edmunds lists it as 2840...
http://www.edmunds.com/used/1999/sub...nav..6.Subaru*

Was the thing totalled and all body panels replaced with 'All Steel' panels?

You have to watch where you weigh your car. We weighed them first at a freight moving company. They were several hundreds of pounds heavier. Because they charge by the pound they altered the scales in their favor.

My MY02 sedan weighed 3098 with me in it, with a 1/4tank of gas a helmet and a laptop computer in the pass. seat. I have minor weight reduction listed somewhere in this forum under one of my track threads.
