Default Need Help With Tires!! (15x7 wheels)

So im in a bit of a pickle here.... Picked up some 15'' team dynamic wheels for my 2014 WRX (not an STi). The stock wheels on the car are 17x8 (235/45R17 tires) with +53mm offset and the wheels I have purchased are 15x7 with +40 mm offset. I have the wheels and the lug nuts to go with but I just for the life of me can not find tires that will fit this wheel.

I would like an all season / more off-road oriented tire as the aim is to be building a rally car here. Of course by rally car i really just want a car that can shred some dirt roads. I go to school in boofoo Virginia and there are just miles and miles of wide, forgiving dirt roads that are a blast to get a little sideways on. As well as the occasional snow storm that perfectly hits when we want to go to snowshoe and of course end up driving through.

So, I need a tire that I wont have to roll fenders for (hopefully) and that will give me some more traction as well as put up with a good amount of abuse. I will also keep my stock wheels/tires to have a spare set of street tires for any long (hour+) drives i have to make but would like the tire to not be anything so soft that it can not put up with a little bit of daily driving. I will most likely leave on the 15'' when I go back and fourth to class each day as well as while im running errands.

I appreciate any advice people can offer but lease dont tell me that a new wrx isnt meant to get a little dirty because the thing hasnt been clean since I got it and I have been in love with the car and the way it performs. Also I already made sure the wheels fit over the weirdly large break calipers in the front, they do but man.... just by a mm.

Also sorry if I messed something up in this post, its my first. Literally just created this account because I was having so much trouble with this. Sadly the site wouldnt let me post in "wheels and tires'' because I dont have three posts with a reply...

Are you looking for truck All Terrain tires?

Yes, the wheels fit quite nicely, also if there are any truck all terrain tires that would fit that would be excellent. The stock diameter of the wheel+tire is 25.39 and most truck tires seem to be 27+. For the most part im looking for, what i would call, a sedan all terrain tire but they are few and hard to find.

I suspect the tire that you want do not exist for general market.

Have you checked rally tires?

I certainly agree with you that there has to be some tires that will work in the general market but as I said I am struggling to find them. I would absolutely love to run rally wheels but I have heard that they do not do well at all being daily driven and I plan to, for the most part, use these wheels as a daily driver. I have found a couple tires that will fit but all change my overall diameter + an inch or two. I was really hoping someone could link me to a specific tire they have used or know will work without rubbing. Maybe a confirmed fitment or such. I cant be the only person trying to do this, I feel these are fairly popular wheels. For example the BF goodrich Radial T/A will work (p235/60R15) and is all season but it takes my overall diameter to 26.1 and it also looks a little weird in my opinion. Maybe also include a picture with the confirmed fitment?

also the Mastercraft Avenger G/T (P235/60R15/SL) will fit on the wheel but puts the overall diameter at the same, 26.1 and I have read nothing but ****ty reviews about it.

also also are we allowed to curse on these things? Im still new... first post

i concur this is probably accurate. rally tires are cost prohibitive for your needs. i would look into getting a 16-17in rally wheel maybe method or enkei. look good and may fit. at least at 16 there are way more options to do the type of things you're looking for.

lots of people run snow tires for dirt when starting out.
a slightly larger wheel and some aggressive tread a/s or snows...
maybe a used set of dirt or gravel tires...185/70 15 looks to be the size for gravel but i have
good luck keep the internets posted on what you come up with

ok so after some googling i found this

continental vanco4season 205 65 15, outer dia. = 25.5, looks like it has that aggressive tread and go anywhere capability. they don't have the best deep snow reviews tho. awd will remedy that a bit...

looks like they'll fit the wheels and get the job done.

Thank you so much for finding the correct size I am looking for! Now i just have a few more questions.... If i go winter tires and drive it on hot tarmac is it going to last no longer than a true gravel rally tire? also looking at reviews of that tire it seems like it handles extremely poorly off road. Is there maybe a category of tire a bit more off road oriented than all season? perhaps a tire of this size in the all terrain category?

they don't exist...that tire specifically was one of the only ones i could find in that size and performance category.

a rally specialist shop such as primitive or rallispec will be able to get you a more all purpose rally tire and have more information on fitments etc. i know there is a bfg gravel tire in 185 70 15 thats kind of all purpose but its a true "rally" tire. there isn't much more info on that stuff.

but other than that conti which i suspect is a pretty good "rally cheater" a dedicated rally tire would prob be your only other option.

all terrain styles the lowest od i could find was 26.1 i believe which is WAY too tall for your car.

hmmm i see.... odds are im going to go with the conti you recommended, and then perhaps in the future once I have a little more money dumped into the car (skid plates, coilovers etc....) I may devote these wheels to gravel spec rally tires and only use them offroad. We shall see, ill post some picks once i get the wheels on. Thanks for all the help, i appreciate it
