What I really want to know is, why have a SOABlog Q&A thread when we know damned well that SOABlog cannot comment on any of the questions?

This is just another suggestions to SOA thread and is all it can be without your insight

^^SOABlog has answered some of my questions (eg about towing with the new Impreza). But they can only answer questions about decisions that have already been made, not about possible future features/products (with rare and vague exceptions eg diesel). If you ask "Why does the current WRX not have 6MT?" you might get an answer; if you ask "Will the 2010 WRX have 6MT?" you won't.

I'm not SOA Blog but I do know the answer to your question.

2009 F-XT's should start arriving at most dealerships in the week of 3/15 (Mid-March).

Ok... this is what we're going to do....

From here on out, you address questions to SOA Blog! This is not up for debate, this is not a discussion thread among forum members, this is not a wish list thread.

If you have a question and it can be answered, for instance, when vehicles are expected to arrive at dealers and someone has a legitimate answer, then I'll allow it. Otherwise, all questions should be answered by SOA Blog.

We have the opportunity to converse with SOA (as I explained earlier), let's have the professionalism of asking worthy questions. There already exists a Suggestions to SOA thread and SOA has already mentioned that they read that thread.

You're NOT going to get answers on future rumors so don't post expecting an answer. There are many threads here that have answers to rumors (some at face value and some you have to read in between the lines).

If you cannot follow simple instructions from this moment on, you will bring upon yourselves some infractions. I'm not going to let this valuable opportunity get shut down because you can't follow procedures.

I will leave it up to SOA Blog if he/she chooses to have people in the know respond to legitimate questions.

Again, do NOT derail this thread... no excuses!!!

SOA Blog,

Has there been any discussion about giving greater choice in interior/exterior color selections?

When I used to sell Subarus, that was one of the biggest issues people would have with the vehicle - that only certain interior colors were offered with a particular exterior color (the beige interior with the red exterior on all non XT Foresters was a big sore spot, for example, or that light gray or beige were the only choices at all on most models if you didn't want the turbo version).

SOA Blog,

While I understand that the removal of the Legacy wagon from the lineup is due to sales figures, it is unfortunate that it is gone. As the owner of an 05 LGT sedan (i should have gotten the wagon instead I guess), my wife and I are going to be in the market for another vehicle with more room. We want a sport wagon. We are left looking at A4 Avants, Volvo V50's, and Saab 9-3's. I know I'm not alone in this. The WRX/STI are too small, and I don't want a Forester or Outback since they are more SUVish. The pricepoint of the Legacy GT wagon was well below the more upscale counterparts and had better performance.

Also adding heating elements to the back of the seat instead of just the bottom would be a nice addition. I've been in cars that have heating elements in both spots and warms you up much quicker than just having it warm your butt up.

*edit*
Why isn't Subaru offering the STI in the midnight blue over here? That color is beautiful.

SOA Blog - did SOA consider at all offering cars on special order basis? I mean, have there been made a solid cost analysis what it would take to make it profitable? Of course I personally would be interested in LGT MT wagon (SpecB even better), but many folks have their own "perfect Subarus" they would be willing to order, pay more and wait. E.g. color combinations, transmissions, etc.

I think a good number of people would gladly pay MSRP or even $1k-2k more to get exactly what they want. As we know Subarus are often obtainable for invoice or less so that would be quite a premium.

Given that Subarus are like Legos and majority of the components are reused accross the enitre line, it's not that you have to make low runs of unique parts, etc.

So did anyone even try to consider such an approach? Again, I am assuming premium to cover overhead of special order processing.

SOA Blog,

The WRX now has optional full Ipod integration through an optional add-on kit. The downside is you can't have both Ipod integration AND Nav which is a horrible feature bottleneck. Is there a plan to fix this issue in next years model?

Also, full Ipod integration is desperately needed on the Tribeca (also without aforementioned Nav bottleneck).

Lastly, the Tribeca being your flagship premium vehicle also lacks Blue Tooth integration and Traffic info on the Nav which should also be quickly addressed for Subaru to stay competitive in this market.

What likelihood do you see any of these issues being addressed in the next model year? I may jump into an '09 Tribeca, but I will hold off if this isn't addressed.

Question

SOA Blog:

1. Why did the 2009 Forester XT not get SI-DRIVE like it's JDM couterpart?

2. Also, since SOA seems to be pushing SI-DRIVE as a measure of fuel savings could we see it make its way into the Tribeca for 2009?

3. Lastly, whatever happened to the B9 Scrambler??:

I'm sure a vehicle like this pitched against the likes of the Boxster, S2000, Z4, MX-5 etc would have been very competitive and garnered huge demand.

Dear SOA

I posted this in the other thread, but i would like to know if this idea is somewhat reasonable. Or if even possible by any means.

An option for a 6 speed in the wrx. But i doubt that will happen.

If it did happen id trade my 06 in in a heart beat... Well id wait till you have that big event when you can get way more money for your trade in than normal. then ill buy a 6 speed wrx. Id be cool with it having the same small wrx turbo, but all i want is a 6 speed option. Make it around a 3-4k mark up. And bring back the wrx TR for later models so that i could afford the wrx 6 speed :P

Also a personal question to you. Do you think the 02-05 wrx transmissions are weak? And also do you think that the 06-07 wrx 3rd gear is defective? I would like to know especially about the 06-07 3rd gear issues because thats seems to be the only gear that gets sheared even at stock power levels. And yet the car is dyno proven to be making 280tq stock, and has a lot of flex happening in the transmission during peak tq. Even at stock power levels i could feel 3rd gear trying to pull its self out of gear during acceleration up a steep hill. Ill admit after that i never use 3rd for steep hills what so ever especially with me being stage 2.

Im not going to go into the warranty denials for 3rd gear topic, because i feel you have no part in that.

If a 6 speed is not a realistic option would an option be available for the jdm sti 5 speed?

I think i speak for many wrx drivers concerning this aspect. We bought this car for its performance, and to modify it. I will admit, it is an very amazing automobile, and we love it. The (2.5 liter) wrx motor can take easily 400whp without throwing a rod, or piston. Yet the gear box is so weak. From a performance stand point i really wish their would be some type of transmission option on ALL wrx's.

I know i may be repeating the same thing over and over again, but this i feel is a very important issue with the tuner crowd. Because with the new ralliart coming out, if its transmission holds power well, i see alot of people jumping ships. And maybe the 08wrx has a stronger gear box. But its past reputation of having a weak tranny ( and the car looks ugly ) could hamper sales in the future. Especially when the ralliart comes out. Keep in mind Ford is doing horrible sales wise mainly due to its horrible reputation it had in the past concerning its tendency to not be very reliable. And i will admit ford has addressed this issue, but still has that lingering dark cloud. The same could be said for GMC.

I dunno, thats pretty much all i have to say for now. Thanks for this thread topic its greatly appreciated and i does give me a lot more confidence that SOA does care about the consumer. thank you once again.

Dear SOA Blog,

What is behind the decision not to bring certain colors to the US?

I'd really like a midnight blue STI, but that color is not available. I don't see where there would be any difference in offeriing such a vehicle, unlike engines and so forth where federal testing is required.

Thanks,

Ed

If someone other than SOA Blog has an answer to a question, it's acceptable. As we don't know what is SOA Blog's time schedule to come here and answer questions, we can continue to inform each other and make it productive here; without having a derailing conversation.

SOA Blog,

Several Nasioc members have been trying to adapt the 2002-2003 factory radio, to be connected to an Ipod or other external source. They need information regarding protocols used to communicate through the connection port, to the external CD changer.
Being that that radio is now obsolete, would it be possible to "de-classify" this information and give it to them, for the benefit of 2002-2004 owners?

For my .03 cents (hey inflation)

I think it's fine for people to hang their opinions/info out in this thread. There's still a lot of "wish list/oops that's future product" questions that I can't answer here, but I'll look into why SI-Drive isn't on Forester and Tribeca, and a couple of the other questions on Navi too.

PS - I liked midnight blue too, but each color you bring in adds to complexity, and that was felt to be too low a take-rate to be worth it. And a bit too black for some tastes... but I liked it.

Considering Subaru has a hybrid system, why don't they just give us a 2.0 diesel/hybrid?
