less power
Does anyone know how to reduce the power
in my WRX. I was told that the boost could be turned down to make th car slower. Is this true? I'm just affraid that this machine might get away from me and cause some kind of problem. Thank you

Just keep the revs under 3-4,000 and you won't have any problems! If you have an automatic, see above.
But seriously, this isn't a formula car, it's a performance sedan/wagon that you can drive as slowly or as fast as you'd like. |

Um, wow. I believe this is a first time that a newbie has come up with an original post. And on top of that, she has stumpped everyone, including the vets! HA
Just curious if you wanted a slower car, (but with the "beauty of All wheel drive") why didn't you get the 2.5RS version? [ June 16, 2001: Message edited by: ChosenWon ] |

I don't know how to do it, but you may try asking in the WRX or turbo forums. Seriously, this is a good idea. Think of it as training wheels...I've seen way too many kids destroy their brand new sports cars because they couldn't control the horsepower.
On a similar note, I routinely disable ABS when autocrossing and rallycrossing because ABS sucks when you're racing. Sure, ABS is a major safety feature of the Impreza, but sometimes it disassociates you from the car. This is just another example where disabling a "feature" can be a Good Thing(tm). If you're willing to swap, I've got a 2.5L DOHC engine that'll solve your problem.

If you install a boost controller, you can limit the cars boost to 8psi. This is obtained due to "something with the wastegate blah blah blah that you wouldnt understand anyway...".
So yes, you can make it slower....and let me tell you, MUCH slower. Or you could purposely put your car in "limp home mode" But seriously, since you obviously have money..spend 400- 500 bucks, get a boost controller, pay a shop a couple hundred to install it and turn keep it turned off. Suby - |
