I was trapping 123 with my Dom 1.5 and the Spearco TMIC (barely over 400whp), never made it to the strip with the gtx30 so hopefully soon once we get these kinks ironed out. I'm in southern AZ too

This should be a blast! Ha, so you know the heat even more than I do I'm looking forward to seeing how it does at the track. |

Just installed my Zeitronix E-85 gauge. Fit it in the fuse door, worked perfect! Stealth install

I never did get the latest GTX build sorted out. Ran in to some issues with misfires on cyl1 that just wouldn't go away. Decided to pull the manifold and see if the TGVs were leaking, or if the injectors were the culprit (clogged). Both looked just fine...but figured I'd do some upgrades while I was at it
Did a ton of changes in the past few weeks, some of which include: -HTA86 .82 -Perrin FMIC -Boomba TB -Ported and bored intake (bored to 75mm) -process west fuel rails (PITA to line) -ID2000s Just wrapped up the install last night, now time to get it tuned! Big thanks to Phatron for sending a new basemap for the injectors and changes. Starts up first time and idles and purrs just fine, as expected |

Power is uncertain, but at its peak before the fuel pumps blew it was around 540whp in 3rd. So a bit more than it was last year I think.
No traps or ETs, still have not taken it to the track. Each time I was planning on going, something on the car wigged out. HTA86 is a 75lb turbo, so just a hair larger than a 6266. However most of the plots I've seen show the HTA86 capable of better spool and north of 700whp if really pushed. I don't plan on going more than 30-32psi though. Didn't want to mess with uber custom TMIC setup, the downtime and custom welding just wasn't worth it for me. Who knows in the future though. Yes, running speed density. Temp sensor located about 8" before inlet to TB. Probably because I was lazy last night and itching to actually drive the car |

Does that put your temp sensor directly above the turbo?

I guess its farther than 8 inches It's about 8 inches away from the turbo, on the backside pointed slightly towards the firewall. The topside of that pipe is visible through the hood scoop, so it likely has good airflow to negative any heat from the turbo. I could be wrong though, but anywhere closer was iffy as we didn't know where it would fit with all the other pipes right there.

Loving the new setup. Our cars have a lot in common.
You are beating me to some of my future upgrades. How does the HTA86 compare spool wise to the GTX on the butt dyno? Is the additional lag very noticeable on the street? |

I just put the turbo on 2 days ago, so it's not tuned yet. Can't quite compare on the spool just yet

Went on the dyno on Thursday and was putting down around 480whp on a Mustang at around 28psi. This was without any timing really, around 16 I think up top. We had to stop as once we upped the boost, fuel pressure would drop like crazy. I'm not 100% sure what it could be, but here is what I'm thinking:
1) the Walbro 460 is dying and can't keep up anymore 2) the surge tank was way overheated on the dyno, since it sits near the axles inside the engine bay, causing the fuel to get really thin with such high temps. I'm thinking its the latter, as my fuel pressure gauge was reading low on the dyno. Afterwards its back to normal. Another alternative I might try is the regulator returning back to the stock tank, rather than the surge tank. This way any hot fuel will return to a cooler portion to cool off, rather than one continuous cycle of reheating back and forth to the surge tank. I need to ask Process West first since this is not how they had setup the tank, but I don't see an issue. Thought I'd share some photos of the Killer Bee upper coolant reservoir since it's such a nice piece! |

You will need twin Wally's, twin bosch044's, or a big Weldon pump to push that turbo.

I thought a single 460 could flow plenty for 700whp+. Heck a single 255 can support 450whp just about.
I'm waiting for the high boost map to test now that its cool. My guess is the fuel was so stinking hot it was close to boiling point (~185° or so? not sure). If the pump is dead, I'm putting in dual 255s. Here is what I'm talking about with loss of fuel pressure. This video starts shifting in to 4th gear, pulls starting around 3800. Pressure dropped so fast that it leaned out to 13.1 by 6500. He was giving it as much injector as he could, and 480whp with ID2000s, well, thats not right. http://pet3r.com/wp-content/uploads/...ly-17-2014.mov |

My afr does the same at 28psi with the bosch044. You need more pump.
You have to remember that you need more fuel flow with e85 than race gas. So any hp rating of a pump or any fuel flow calcs you need to take that into account. |

I'm not at 700whp, not even close. We couldn't break 480 @ 28psi before it leaned out. I thought that was low, that's all.
Going to add a second 460 and be done with it. |

I hit 85% duty cycle on ID1300s and a single walbro 460 with 608whp... Given he was only near 480whp, it's not the ability of a 460 to keep up with fueling demand. Absolutely no way. Maybe to push the turbo to its absolute limits (I have a feeling a headgasket will protest down the road if that's the case...) but to hit this wall at 485whp screams something else is up. Is the pump hardwired? What is the size of line you are running to feed the rail again? |

pet3r's 08 STI - GTX3076 - 553whp 527wtq - Phatron
608whp on what dyno?
Gotta be a high reading one to suggest 1300's will hit 700whp at 100% idc Unless you're not talking about e85 Last edited by Phatron; 07-20-2014 at 12:39 AM. |
