Higher Flow Side Feed Injectors
This might be a kinda stupid idea, but I was searching the internet for fuel injectors and happened to notice something. I took a look at some fuel injectors for an SR20DET(side flow injectors) which flow somewhere in the ballpark of 370cc's. I was just wondering if these could be a possible alternative to the tiny fuel injectors that EA82T's come with, and to also see everyone else's input on the whole idea. It seems like they would work because the mounting is, or looks the same. And hypothetically speaking, I figure as long as I use the factory(240SX) fuel injector plugs, and they are the same impedance, everything should work. But since I don't think that I'll be getting ahold of any SR20DET injectors any time soon, I figured that 240SX injectors might do the trick. Right now, I can easily get ahold of some stock 240SX(side feed design[red] KA24DE) injectors from a friend of mine since they are just laying around in his garage. They look nothing like what is in the picture on this site:CLICKY They look almost identical to the SR20DET injectors on the aforementioned site, except for the fact that they are red instead of blue. I am seriously thinking of getting these injectors and seeing if they will work. What do you guys think?
Thank you for your input. Patrick

How do you plan to tune for the extra fuel? I don't think they will work, I have heard they can be used on the Legacy turbo with a spacer under them. If that is true they won't work for you.

FWIW the nissan/NISMO injectors are a direct swap for the new STI side feeds, so if the STIs fit in yours so will the Nissan/NISMOs, good luck!

I think I have a set of Nissan injectors in my garage as well as a set of EA81-T (or EA82-T) injectors. Are the EA81-T and EA82-T injectors the same?
I'll try to line them up together tomorrow or Tuesday if I get a chance and take some pics. Should be interesting. |

Just got home from work. The pic isn't the best but it's all I can do for now *sleepy*. The pic is of two 1.8ltr RX turbo injectors vs Nissan SR20DET injectos. I purchased these injectors for my Outback Sport when it was turbocharged but I never had them installed. The 1.8ltr RX turbo injectors were for a turbo Subaru XT6 project I was going to do but it never got completed due to $$$ constraints.
The 1st and 3rd injectors are the RX turbo injectors while the 2nd and 4th injectors are from the Nissan. |

Well, maybe it was just a fleeting thought.
But, on a lighter note, I did find some adapters that MSD makes that will allow different injectors to be used(but require barbed ends to be added to work with factory fuel lines). Check them out:Straight Fuel Delivery Top Mount **Note: Go to MSD Fuel Management; then go to Flexible hose mounting, and click; then look for part # 2140.** I'm not quite sure how I would go about tuning higher flow injectors, but I'm pretty sure I can figure that part out when the time comes. I don't think that using injectors that flow 220-270cc's would make that big of a change at idle, considering that the factories flow 180cc's. If I'm incorrect in this theory, please correct me, but keep in mind, when I start this project I will be changing the turbocharger and exhaust system in favor of units with better and higher flow characteristics as well. |

I have been looking at nissan sidefeed 300zx injectors for my SVX project. The turbo legacy injectors should also be 370cc right?

I have heard from 360cc to 390cc, I think 370cc is the most often quoted.

its pretty common to use the sr20det injectors in the ej18's, since its a direct swap. the s13/s14 injectors are 370cc's, and the s15's are 440cc's.

If you are looking at 300zx injectors then you need the 95-96 style, you will also need 92-94 n/a legacy fuel rails. There is a big thread in the AFI forum started by Reddevil.

I believe that's the VG30E(T) engine. Don't quote me on that though. Apparently they only flow 160cc/min NA and 259cc/min Turbo, so I'm not sure how much of an upgrade it would be to go with those. However, you could always look at what the Z guys are doing for upgraded injectors and follow suit. |
