Let me guess, they said "nope, you're wrong" when you told them why.

Since people love this thread I guess I'll give you one teaser of what I have seen this week.
If anyone has ever told you that coolant is nasty ****, they meant it quite literally |

Got one for today: Funny vibration and tire won't stay inflated That'll do it This is what happens when you hit a 2 1/2" asphalt transition at 40+mph Both front and rear wheels are going to need some love. |

It's amazing that you can bend a wheel that bad with all that tire.

I'm pretty sure the tire was under inflated, the driver is at the ripe old age of 97

you know I must've hit a pavement cutout and dropped about 2 inches at about 50mph... then hit the other side... 2 inches up at slightly less than 50mph on 17s and 45 profile tires... no sidewall buldge... no bent rim... nadda....
to do that to a wheel with that tall a tire... wonder how fast they were really going o_o The only thing I could find damaged was the spring seat cushions on the top of the springs in the front... ends of the springs cut right through them... though they could have been damaged before hand as they were used. |

That's another part of being in the repair business is trying to get the whole truth out of the customer of what happened.
Side note here is some more pictures to keep the thread going ^^ some of the high quality great flowing exhaust work we have around town lol |

I recently did some work swapping over my calipers to 4/2 pots, and as im still new it was my first time doing actual brake work. I installed the whole system with little to no issues and then bled. Tried to go for a drive and had no brake pressure. turns out I had installed all the calipers upside down without noticing so the bleed valves were on the bottom trapping air in my calipers.
embarrassing, but at least now i know. |

Is that a screw sticking out of the tire as well or is that just on the ground?

Customer brings in his 2012 wrangler, 6000km on the clock. Covered in mud, I mean smothered, yet He swears the jeeps never been off road!!
One shock has broken off its mount, drive shaft is dented along with skid plate from a rock or something similar and he is also complaining of a binding feeling from the front end of the vehicle. Tech pulls diff front diff cover off and finds this.. Customer is shocked, he cannot begin to understand how something like that could possibly happen in his jeep that never goes off road. We pretty much told him, give it up, the state of this thing obviously gives away the fact that you 4x4 it, its blatantly obvious you were beating the crap out of it off road and there is not way in hell you could cause that much damage in a diff and not know about it. After all this his response was... so this should be covered by warranty eh? *FacePalm* I can honestly say I have never seen this much damage to a diff, literally half the teeth on the ring gear were missing completely. Not just chipped, completely missing. I have more stories but I don't think I have any pictures. |

Yes I believe they are still using the Dana axles in these jeeps. I too cannot believe it made it to the shop, when I had to drive it in I thought the axle was about to be torn out from under the body. Shows that they are actually fairly tough vehicles lol. Chrysler seems relatively fair with their warranty, I'm unsure exactly how it works for vehicles that have been used offroad, but this one had so clearly been abused hard, I doubt any kind of story the guy could make up to try and explain himself would just be shrugged off by Chrysler. |
