Crank/no start - no spark - ideas?
Finally swung the motor in - as far as we know all plugs and wires are hooked up properly. Tomorrow morning we'll be checking fuses, etc. I'll bring the laptop and cable to see if DeltaDash could tell me anything. I hope my aftermarket alarm isn't doing something silly.
Is there anything specific these cars are known for doing when sitting for 6+ months? EDIT: My dumb ass missed that FAT ground wire bundle that attaches to the driver's side of the intake manifold..

Check those the fuses in the engine bay, or where ever they may be located. The main ones for the ECU.

We'll be checking the fuses, follow the harness to make sure nothing was pinched or not connnected, and I'll make sure I check the crank sensor.
Another screwy thing.. my gas gauge reads dead empty - pretty sure the tank was damn near full when the motor popped.. I can't imagine how fuses blew while the car was sitting?!? |

That large ground wire was never bolted to the manifold - I'm an ass.

dont feel bad. my first motor "failure" ended up being a blown off IC pipe that i found WAY after i'd already ordered everything (i was sorta hoping for it...cause i wanted to rebuild w/ cams )
i wish my recent screw up was something simple. i lost a HG. theres no explaining that one lol. |

Water in the gas tank separates and you start sucking in bad gas. I've had a WRX sit for two periods longer than that and the only problems I had were the rotors oxidized and the gas was crap.

what do you mean you lost 4 coil-packs, I belive i have some faulty ones as well, what where some of the sympotms your car had when your coils where bad?
My car runs fine when its the motor is cold, it revs freely, Once it gets warm, it will not rev over 3k horrible bucking and stumbling rpm needle jumps around between 2800-3300 Sounds like misfires maybe, sometimes backfires and it seems to be getting worse, funny thing is that this only happens after 5-7 mins of driving and gets worse untill the car is not drivable?!?! if anyone has any related issue to this please PM me or give your ideas!! |

...and the compression check I did today came back positive for uneven compression - 90, 120, 140, 140 - less than 100miles on the motor.. it was cranking funny even before we got it running.
