For those who think you wont get mailed a ticket because three of were speeding at the same time. think again.

if you look really closely - you can see a "pad" per lane that was cut into the pavement

there are sensors in the cut that measure your speed based on how quickly your tires travels the short distance between the first and second cut

they know in each of the lanes who was going what speed

Ok I know how the stationary cameras work.... sensor in the road, pictures taken from front and back - can't argue with valid assessment of speed and which car is guilty

BUT MOVING VANS....???

1. First of all the emit K band radar frequency (got them on my Valentine) so if they are more than one car driving at the time - I don't how they make a distinction who was speeding.

2. It takes a picture from the front of a car??? NO plates in the front??
Is there some amazing new technology for the computer to track the car and take pic from the back?

3. Hmmm... my ticket keeps getting lost in the mail cuz I never gotten it. Are they gonna serve it to me?

Anyway, with the problems above I am guessing the moving vans are only capable reliably catching one speeder at a time - so unless you're a single car that passed it - I don't how they are able to ticket you.

Anyway....time for

FYI -

the fotoblocker and prizm plates dont work

the cameras take color photos and camera folks use photoshop filters to get the plate numbers/letters to become visable

It's lightly tinted to block out heat. Depending on the tint, I am not sure that cameras can always take an identifiable picture which is why I posed the question.

I heard they used hair spray...

Anyway I am thinking about trying this...

supposely it works better than photoblocker. For 20 bucks I'm willing to try it. I will take my camera, force a flash and take some pictures from an angle. I will see if i can fix it in my photoshop.

Does anyone know what the angle is, 45 degrees I think.

Hey guys,

Its just my $0.02 but trying to alter your plate in ANY way is just Plain Dumb.
You will take a tkt, say $125 and make it $500+.

AZ has a law that says you cant mod. your tag in anyway.. But they are also pushing a new law (I support it) that says if you try to cover or change your tag, be it with a plastic cover thats tinted, sprays, paint, marker, etc... any officer can stop you and sight you right then / there.

There is a much easier way to avoid getting flashed on either the HW or @ an intersection.... SLOW DOWN & Don't Run Reds.

here's my biggest issue with cameras. There were two people driving 80+ on the southbound 51 today on my way to work. everyone else is doing 60-65mph, so these two guys are weaving in and out of traffic. One of them had three close calls in less than one mile before I lost sight of him.

so what happens to these guys? they get a $181 ticket that will be mailed to their house as they continue on down the road causing accidents? BS.

My favorite parts ...

"Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano announced on Friday her expectation that the state's new freeway speed cameras would generate $90 million in net profit for fiscal year 2009, plus $34 million for the private companies selected to operate the program. In the following year, what the state labels "non tax increase revenue generation" will jump to $120 million, plus $45 million more for the ticket vendors, for a total of $165 million. After 2010 revenue is expected to exceed this amount significantly as the program grows beyond 100 fixed and mobile speed cameras and high occupancy vehicle lane (HOV) ticketing cameras are brought online. The state currently faces a $1.3 billion deficit."

and ...

"The law states no points will be counted toward a driver's record if the violation is a civil one."

and ...

"State law sets the program's photo-enforcement citations at a flat $165, plus a 10 percent surcharge for a voter-mandated public-campaign-funding system. " -- Sweet! The tickets will help clog the airwaves with more political propaganda!
