Skunk2 72mm Throttle Body Beta Tester
I got selected to be one of 10 beta testers to test the new skunk2 72mm drive by wire throttle body. I attached some pictures below. It ships today and should be here later this week. Just looking to get opinions on what you think prior to me testing it.The unit is a full billet aluminum throttle body.

Looks like a nice billet piece, but that's about all I can say about it. Haha.

So how did it do? Boomba has been working on a dbw TB for a long time now, granted theirs is going to be 75mm, but I am curious to see how much of a difference 72mm already makes?

I used to have skunk 2 everything on my b18c. Cams, springs, retainers, manifold, exhaust, shifter. Lol they made great quality dyno proven parts so Id assume they would make quality subbie parts

I hope these come out better than their Evo TB fiasco.

It's not gonna work as a simple bolt on. This becomes obvious once you remove the stock throttlebody and measure the inner diameter of the stock intake manifold inlet, which is roughly the same size as the stock TB.

that's why boomba includes a tapered adapter that goes from 75mm to the stock size, so the transition is smooth, rather than having an abrupt step. Granted, it would be way more beneficial if the manifold was opened up to the new TB diameter.

Anyone with experience with this throttle body?
I am using a NA intake, and can easily open up the hole to match any throttle body. Wondering what the downside would be to a bigger TB.
I'm building an engine and I'll have big valves, 270 cams and a Borg Warner 8374 turbo, Full Race twin scroll headers and all the other goodies. I will be road racing so I want to preserve the low-end as much as possible. Will it help or hurt response and do I really need it? |

Ive always liked skunk2, and have always used their parts for my civic, They always made great results. I would imagine that would imply that quality with the Subaru's as well.
