Me too. If you catch a glimpse in heavy traffic, you can't tell immediately if it's a turn signal or a brake light, delaying any reaction you might take.

That should be it, because CVT have 'infinite' gears. So I don't see the point of having low range in auto mode.

They need to get a 6 spd in the XT or just get the diesel over here.

I think it looks really good, fits in well between the new Impreza and the Outback

And A W, low range isn't something you shift into because you hit something slippery.. you shift into it because you want to go extremely slowly over an obstacle. The increased torque at the wheels in low range is actually a detriment to traction in icy conditions. |

I REALLY hope they have all the CVT BS worked out by USDM '14 models. Pretty much counting on putting a deposit on one here shortly.

I want to make sure it is up to snuff for 260+ ft lbs of FI torque and fully ready for heavy duty off-road use. If you're telling me the 2nd is good to go, I'll keep quiet.

Doesn't the DIT Legacy use a CVT as well? Shouldn't have any problem with those numbers from the new Forester, then.

I think we might. A Subaru rep told us that they are gonna make the XT look different than the regular Forester. I would think they'll do a little more than bumper and wheels this go around. Quote:
I just wanted to add to the others confirming this, but they also had interior shots of the camo car. If that ain't a Forester Subaru needs to get after someone for stealing the Impreza interior!! |

When was the last time Subaru said that the cars they sell is not up to snuff and still put it on the market? If you are particular about trouble free car, you might want to wait a year or two and then decide based on the customer reviews.

Take a look at what happened with the 12 Impreza. Preople were happy with those for a bit, then there was some strong criticism about excessive oil consumption, condensation in the headlights, poor MPG, rattles, failing air bag sensors, and CVT behavior. Still a fantastic car, but I think the 13 models have hammered out a few issues that were present on the 12. |

I have a 12 Impreza and aside from a few issues drivers side seat cloth fraying and a a pillar rattle which were both taken care under warranty it is a solid car. One thing is for sure it seems like some folks including myself are not getting the 27/36 MPG unless you drive it like grandma.

I think it's silly to wait for the following model year. It's either going to have what you want when you buy it or it won't. I just had a nice bout with Subaru regarding my 2011 WRX, and that basic design has been around since late 2007. No vehicle is perfect and that's what warranties are for. I would not mod a Forester XT with CVT right away. Let others do it, especially shops that have money to blow on projects like that. If you're already entering with the mindset of, "I'mma mod this thing," then you really can't worry about, "Will the new design be problem-free?" It just doesn't work that way. Either you're careful or careless. There are plenty of people that haven't had issues with their 2012's. I had a loaner 2012 and I was getting 26-27MPG thrashing on it. It had just over 1k miles on the odometer. I could get 29MPG city when I treated it nicely. I had it for a week and loved it. |

What are the chances this Forester will have 7 seats? It appears to be Tribeca-sized...
