look, heres my take on this situation. you tend to choose where you live based on the quality of schools in your district no? If so then anyone from another district should pass a test to get in. It really isnt fair if they do indeed end up with kids whose families dont care how they do.

Well, City people don't like Country people because they get stared at if they're not White Protestants.
What's worse? |

Also, any parent who is so apathetic about their child's education most likely will not take the time to fill out the application paperwork to send them to this new school. |

Another reason for school vouchers, too bad the teacher unions do everything in their powers to prevent competition.

Same could be said about "Urban" city folk. IBthatsracist.
Stupid really. It has nothing to do with city versus country. It has to do with WAPCE vs regular people. Over-inflated senses of entitlement are what brings places down. |

Reminds me of redistricting debates that happened back in my HS days. Some idiot woman was on the news saying she didn't want kids from the apartments going to public school with her kids.
I remember this exchange: Quote:

Ok, here we go. This one hits home. My stepdaughter attended kindergarten at a private school. We moved, and enrolled her in public school. They wouldn't allow her to enter the 1st grade because she missed the birth date cut-off by 1 week. They wouldn't test her as advanced or anything like that. So she had to repeat kindergarten. She was bored the entire year. We taught her and advanced her learning on our own.
This year, she is attending 1st grade. She's still way ahead of the curve. Thankfully, there is an advanced reading program at the school. But the fact remains... she finds most of her schoolwork to be less than challenging. She's a 1st grader with the reading comprehension of a 3rd or 4th grader. Had she been advanced to 1st grade like she should have last year, she would have been better off. Yes, it's a wonderful thing that good ol' "No Child Left Behind" Act. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_Chil...rming_students Thank you George ****ing Bush Jr. |

my public school bused in kids from the ghetto and from poorer farming communities. All they did was fight, cause problems, and generally act like a bunch of retards. And I don't blame them. It would be hard to be the only cowboy in a school of 3,000 or so stuck up white collar kids.
