Default getting approached while pumping gas???

So I usually get my fuel for my WRX about 2-3 times a week at the same gas station. I would say that out of 10 times that I fuel up I get appraoched by a WRX fan or owner 6 of those times. These are sometimes good experiences and shows that subaru owners are a close knit community, buuuuuuuuuuuut out of the 6 people that run over to talk to me 2-3 of them are idiots. Severe idiots, like the kind that you want to punch in their face .02 seconds after the lame introduction.

For example:

Me- (pumping gas)
Idiot- hey man sweet WRX, what year is it?
Me- thanks man, its a 2011.
Idiot- cool my buddy has an 2012.
Me- OK.
Idiot-you done anything to it man?
Me- just a basic stage 2.
Idiot- well my buddies 2012 is an STi and its stage 3.
Me- OK.
Idiot- whats your 0-60 man?
Me- I dont know factory is 4.5 +/- and this is stage 2, plus I dont track my car so prob 4.2 +/-
Idiot- yeah well my buddies STi runs 2.0sec 0-60. Its so insane. It goes over 200 MPH!!
Me- yeah thats unbelievable.
Me- (done pumping gas)
Idiot- yeah well sweet ride bro (goes back to passenger seat in friends truck at next pump over.)
Me- bye. bye.

I cant be alone out there, what are you guys experiences?

Lmfao I have definitely seen that before. They don't know sh!$ and they have to 1 up things even if it's preposterous. I've had people with cobalts ask about my trans am, 500 hp and sounds like a NASCAR. Same crap, trying to talk crap like I'm competing with their "friend". Hilarious.

Yesterday a woman called me over and asked if id help her open her gas door cause it was a 2 person job. Confused I'm like sure, walk over and get handed a key. She said I had to pry the door while she hit the lever inside the car, so I walk to the fuel door and observe the hundreds of key marks around the door. She asks if I'm ready and I say ya and she hits the button and the door pops open (with no prying lol), and I open it up all the way and take the cap off for her. She treated me like a saint, but I didn't try and tell her I don't think she needs to pry it open with a key everytime.. I'm pretty sure she was talking to a trashcan when I left

For me, I usually get weird looks because I'm "fueling up on the wrong side". Occasionally either some brotastic guy will come up and talk, but usually just awkward stares.

My 1984 K5 blazer (6.2 deisel) has the fuel door on the right...lots of comments about that, and my "rattling small block."

I was pumping gas the other day when an idiot pulled up in a 95 mustang gt. he asked what my whp was. I told him 230 max. He was like my car pushes 650 and it's supercharged. I was unimpressed because when he started it I was shocked to hear the slight gurgle of a stock v6 motor

Every time I go back to visit Seattle, I have little subiegasms.

When I was moving, I trailered my car behind the moving truck and I had to make a stop in Oregon where I couldn't pump my own gas. So I wait for the tenant to come over and he asks about my car on the trailer...

Tenant: Nice car, that thing have a turbo?
Me: Yeah, it has some other work done too.
Tenant: That's cool, how much boost?
Me: About 19lbs. (at this point I thought he knew what he was talking about)
Tenant: Oh that's cool, I smoked one of those in my car once.
Me: Oh, cool. What do you drive?
Tenant: A foxbody Mustang.
Me: Nice, those can be really quick.
Tenant: Yeah, the one I raced had 3 turbos and was running no boost.
Me: Um cool, thanks for the gas, later.

I was so dumbfounded I had trouble finding words.

The first trip to the gas station I made after buying my 350z I had a guy approach me. I figure he was going to ask me something about my car...not!!
Got his up for gas money. Got the typical "I'm not from this area and I need to get back home. Can you spare just $5?" Really?? $5 is going to get you the 75 miles back home?? Suure!!

I get all compliments from my car, so I don't really mind. The most common one is "is it fast?" to which I just reply "it's alright", so I don't sound cocky or anything.

People usually get a kick out of the plate too:

I got a mechanics business card put in my hand by a woman who thought my car was badly broken because it was popping and banging on the way into the petrol station.

Although it was obvious she meant well so I thanked her and went on my way.

And last week some guy told me he loved my car and has always wanted one and then.....................asked me how long I'd owned my Supra...............

I wanted to keep the conversation going but failed badly because I couldn't stop laughing!

have to say that i've never actually been approached at the gas station. Could be cause I drive a 2004 jeep liberty with nothing special, maybe it will change when i get my '13 wrx. If only November would come sooner.

I've been approached at gas stations, rest stops, grocery stores, etc. It's usually someone that thinks they know about cars and doesn't know crap. But, I have also had a lot of people ask what kind of car it is and say it looks really cool.

Far too many times have I had some idiot tell me I should've bought an STI or ask if my car has a turbo. I've replied numerous times "all WRX's are turbo" only to be met with a blank stare.
