Unhappy They got my STi yesterday

Somebody stole my 04 WR Blue STi from the Summit train station yesterday (January 11th), between 3:30 and 9pm. Stock on the outside, except gold ROTA SDR wheels wearing Continental all-season tires for the winter. My Viper aftermarket alarm clearly didn't help, and they left my club, conveniently broken in half, on the ground.

I don't know if it's a good idea to give out my plate number, but it's one of those older yellow plates with the 3 letters followed by 4 numbers (no spaces). That's probably pretty unique on a Blue STi, in case anyone's out there looking for it or just happens to see it on the road.

When it was stolen, it had an Alpine 9807 head unit and one car seat in the back seat, and one car seat in the trunk (I was transporting just one kid, but an extra adult for the trip to the train station).

I'll update this post if/when I hear anything more.

Monday (1/12): jehcpa spotted my car abandoned in a hotel parking lot and reported it to the police! Thank you jehcpa! (see posts below)

Thumbs up

Call Hanover PD 973-428-2511 in a little bit - I think I found your car - or at least one that was stolen. PD is with it now and it is a stolen vehicle. Looks unmolested based on my ability to see it. I asked them to please do you the favor of using a flatbed.

Thank you, jehcpa! Yes, that is my car. I've spoken with the Hanover Police, and they confirmed that it's my car, and they're supposed to give me a call when they're done processing it, probably tonight. Then I'll get to see firsthand what kind of condition it's in. Supposedly no body damage, broken ignition, messed up steering column, but no other information yet. We shall see...

So I'll ask the general forum... what do you suppose is a reasonable reward for jehcpa? I definitely want to thank him, and encourage others to keep an eye out for other stolen subies.

Well make sure you guys get on the tri-state911 list at http://AZPInstalls.com, it could have been recovered probably earlier if we shot it out on that list (to which ed is on).

I added the link to the thread I have sticky'ed in the classifieds!

Ed, grat job man!

Wish Subaru made something like the Electronic key in some GM's cars. If the STi is as fast or faster than a Corvette, shouldn't Subaru ask it's GM branch permision to use such items as GM is benefiting from Subaru AWD and stuff.

Good luck guys!

ok this isnt a stolen car, but... saturday morning my friend went out to get in his 04 STI to go to work and when he went to open the door he saw possibly the worst thing that has ever happened to him. Overnight someone had spray painted his car with white and red paint. He called the insurence and they said to take it to a shop to get an estimate. do you think it will come off and look like brandnew.......

My car was stolen on saturday (02/07/04). It was parked in a lot outside my friend's apt. building in East Orange off of S. Harrison St. (real nice area I know). This happened sometime between 12:30- 4:30 PM. The car was an 02' Aspen white wrx sedan. It looked totally stock on the outside, aside from the TXS FMIC and Prodrive exhaust, no SUBARU letters or wing on the trunk either. Any info would be helpfull.

Default stolen from Lynnes

MY WRX was stolen from Lynnes Subaru last Sept. while there for service.
It was recovered; not happy with the results - body has been fixed but it was involved in a police chase and I wonder how badly it was thrashed.
Smokes on start-up now.

Any way to tell how much ware to the engine?

How about advice on legal ways to get at Lynnes?

I think bloomfield police just chased your car into east orange...but they had to break it off at the border.

Ed's STi was just attempted to be stolen 1/2hr ago in Morristown by Em&Em and the Rasta man using a (most likely) stolen 02-03 WRB WRX Sedan, No wing, NJ Tags. Be on the lookout on I78 and Irvington for these guys heading back from Morristown.

Question

Is there a red 02-03 WRX sedan unacounted for? The grill and hoodscoop have matching mesh. The black dude driving it did not look like right and he gave me no love when I shot the wave over to him. Car was spotted in Trenton this afternoon around 2. When I say he didn't look right, it didn't seem like the seat was adjusted for him. He was sitting really awkward with his head just about touching the headliner and all up on the wheel.

I find it highly unlikely that the WRB 02/03 sedan that the Eminem and Rastaman were driving to get away from trying to steal mine was theirs. No wing. NJ tags with a 76 in the number. No one lost a car this morning? They probably just took it recently since they normally steal some other piece of junk to get out of Irvington.

Hello i'm new here.
My 02 wrx silver wagon was taken from me on thanksgiving day from my work in Orange it was found two days later in Newark with some damage, i had a clifford alarm on that car, but it was in valley mode because it need to be adjustement in the sensor, it was trigering with minor noises.
Well we have cameras on the parking lot that record, so i got to see them taken the car it took less than a minute, it was gone.
So january comes and i decide to get a STI, drove from the dealer to the same guy to get an alarm and audio system, last thursday same spot at my work around 14:30 they try to get my STI (silver), they seem to be pros they pull the grill and disconected the horns, they try for 30 minutes to start the car without sucsess they finally left,(i got to see all of this on tape later on) the car is already in the shop, for sure if wasn't for the alarm it would be gone.
The car had 900 miles.
They are taken wrx all over NJ.
